Decent jack that fits under trunk carpet?
Recently I put a plug kit and an inflator in my car since I don't want to have to use that goop stuff if I don't have to. However I now realize there is no jack in the car for me to remove wheel and plug the tire.
I'd like to get a jack and lug wrench that'll fit in the trunk compartment under the carpet, if possible. Nothing fancy or elaborate. Shopping briefly I came across this: http://www.amazon.com/BMW-182-448-Ja...words=bmw+jack Any thoughts? Thanks guys. |

It'll work. Borrow a scissor jack from another car and put it in the trunk and see if it'll fit. Also, buy used. That's a ridiculous price on amazon for that set. Buy a cheap ratchet and socket and a used scissor jack from any car.

I have this: http://www.getbmwparts.com/partlocat...catalogid=4462
You also might want to throw in a lug bolt guide to help you get the wheel back on such as this: http://www.reverselogic.us/shop.html...05&id=21769979 You don't always need to take the tire off to repair it. Especially if it's the front, and it seems the majority of the tires I've plugged are in front. Good luck. Cheers.

FYI, you can use the M Mobility Kit inflator without using the goop. No need for another inflator.

Yeah when I first realized there was no jack I wasn't concerned but figured with my luck I'd get an inboard rear puncture. |

Edit: I just realized you may have been talking about the area where the mobility kit lies underneath the trunk floor in the rear of the trunk. No, I don't think it fits. I'll try that area tonight and verify this for sure. Cheers.

I bought a E46 jack at a junk yard; $50 with tax for a pretty nice one. I haven't got it to fit under the carpeted area but I may not have tried enough. Whatever you get make sure it will go under the jack points with a flat tire. I don't think a bottle jack will work and some scissor jacks may be too tall also.

The one thing that is a PITA is the fact that there is no power to the auxiliary port in the center console unless the engine is running. This means that you need to have the engine idling in order to inflate your tire. None of my other cars requires this.
