E92 M3 6 Speed for me. But I would love to have an E30 in my garage next to the E92...

I wish the Poll was just 4 choices. E30, E36, E46, E9X. Leave the MT, SMG, DCT debate out of it.

This poll is rather dumb as 99% of the people on this forum have E9x M3s - the results are obviously biased.

There is a strong bias towards newer models since the majority of owners on the forum are owners of such newer models... I for example have driven the e46, e90, and e92 (and obviously not all transmission types), but nothing else... Clearly some bias towards my own baby...

I've never driven one, but the E46 is what made me want an M3 and I think it has the best balance of engine performance + weight of all the different iterations.

Best where? E92 M3 GTS Europe only or E46 CSL . Both never brought to US. It's a shame that neither made it here for us to sample. E46 CSl still holds the M3 record at the "Ring".

in order for someone to answer this question, they would have had to lived though all of these generations of M3s. to give a good answer how the car was compared to others in its time.
Its hard me to answer this question. I wasn't really that old or into cars back in the E46 years. i know people rave about that car, and it might very well be the best M3. I cant give real answer to this thread. but i will say this, the E92 is a very special M3. the last M3 coupe, and only V8 engine. Its like a end to a era of high revving engines for BMW. |

Too tough to answer in a poll. E46 M3 with 6-speed is the second car I fell in love after the E36 M3 Evo (316bhp, europe only). The E46 did everything the E36 could do but that bit better while looking immense. But then it's undeniable that the E92 moved the game on even further.
So, I guess I'll say E30 simply because it began a run of cars which are all very special. |

If you haven't read this yet, you should:
http://www.m3post.com/goodiesforyou/evo.pdf Even more applicable today. Can you imagine if the X6M or new M5 were a part of this writeup? They would have torn them apart... Still want an E39 M5. At least the new M3/4 will be lighter. Last edited by davesaddiction; 08-30-2013 at 11:00 AM.. |
