Two questions..

Hi Guys,

1. Are M3's equipped with run flats? I have Pzero Pirellis, are these run flats?
2. I have a very small nick on the leather right at the junction where it meets the power window controls on the driver side. Not a wear and tear area but I don't want it to spread. Is this covered under warranty?

Are you saying your 2011 M3 came with PZeros on it? Second hand, or from the factory?

I sure hope I don't get P-zeros. I know they aren't terrible tires, but boy are they ugly looking.

Yeah, OEM tires now include PS2s, Contis, and P-Zeroes.

Are they going to continue with PS2s that they always did or is there a possibility of them upgrading to the new Super Sport?

Run flats are shitty performance, noisier, there is nothing good about them. Your M3 comes with a flat repair kit (M Mobility Kit I think its called) in the trunk. Probably would be just as effective for dealing with a small hole... I dunno. Just IMHO.

I live in Northern NJ and drive my cars all year round. I had 9 flat tires in 2 years on the runflats that came with my '06 550i and was never stranded by the side of the road. My '08 550i didn't have them and I needed to be flat bedded to the dealer twice and was stranded 3 other times in 2 1/2 years. I would much rather have runflats on my M3.

I used to think they were the best compromise... until I dug deeper. Not anymore. First of all, you need special equipment to mount/dismount them, and you're not going to find that in any small city or town. Second, and more importantly, they're not supposed to be patched, and no shop with the proper equipment will do that. Third, NOBODY will carry those sizes, so you'd be stranded for days. And fourth, and most importantly, the tire will completely collapse after 100 miles or so (depending on weight of the car), so hardly the 'piece of mind' you want.

I just found out the best solution to the flat tire issue: carry a jack and the 'Stop'n Go' flat tire repair kit. AND avoid any construcion zone or rolling on questionable surfaces, and you can pretty much avoid having a flat in the first place. I tried my 10-yr-old patch kit the other day, and after learning how to properly plug the tire, took the safe route to not exceed 80 sustained, and traveled 320 miles like if I didn't have a flat, and with the piece of mind of TPMS and the same load range as the other tires. Glad I didn't buy a donut spare, because I wouldn't carry it now (I don't trust them on the highway, and wouldn't exceed 60). Your call, but I'll NEVER consider runflats again. Take care.

Please post a picture of the damage. You're more likely to get a useful answer if you do.

You should have bought a 335 then.

The very last thing you want to do is use the M Mobility kit because of the mess the sealant goop will cause. Alternatives are to buy a temporary plug kit (Stop & Go temporary plug kit (http://www.stopngo.com/automotive.asp#tireplugger) or the Patchboy kit (http://patchboy.com/mm5/merchant.mvc...tegory_Code=ki) are reported to be good ones), or you can put together a temporary spare for about $200 (look at this thread for the details: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=253769 ). You'll need a jack with either option. There's quite a bit of info about jacks (and patch kits) here: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=272610
