Must see M-DCT video

WOW! I did not realize how great this new M-DCT transmission is until I watched this video. After seeing it, I couldn't imagine getting an M3 without it.

What exactly in that video makes you unable to "imagine getting an M3 without it."? I guess I'm not as easily swayed by commercials as you. Of course they are going to make it look cool but common on. Wait till you drive it before getting too thrilled.

Haha ... that's what I was wondering too. Just looks like some nice video editing of nothing.

I wish the M-DCT could have had the chrome round surrounding like the SMG II for the E46 M3.

I guess I'm not as quick as you guys about what M-DCT meant when it was first announced. All I knew is it meant a manual trans performance with no clutch. The clutch is what I was worried about because driving a MT car in Los Angeles traffic sucks. The video made me understand exactly what a dual transmission clutch is and how it offers no interruption of power. Also what I found neat was how the shift lights worked. More, the big numbers showing what gear you're in, just like the M5 and M6 is what I was hoping for. It's no big deal to many but the big numbers and letter in the dash screen just look cool to me.
