Naturally aspirated engines

As i was watching todays F1 race from Monaco i couldn't help but think of the two US GP races that i saw at Indy and wonder what happened to the spectacle of F1!?!?!?

After a couple of "laps" this afternoon in my E92 M3 I remember … the good old days of naturally aspirated engines!

There was recently a video posted on the main page where it shows 40 something M cars driving off and it sounded exactly like the 2014 part. Quiet, boring, and some just plain terrible (m3/m4). I hate to be "that guy" complaining about the noise on the new m's but it really is nothing exciting anymore. RIP na M cars..

Wow no headphones required. Went to the Austin race in 2013 and you could hear them from 1/2 mile out. I wish I had a chance to hear the V10s!

Same here. Owning the last real BMW ///M car worth buying, clearly no longer a fan of the diluted brand.

I was at that same race and I met Nico Rosberg. We stayed at the same hotel that the Mercedes team stayed at. He was walking back and forth through he lobby and no one knew who he was.

I didn't wear a headphone at the race and paid the price that evening! I kept saying...what?.....what? at the bars afterwards.

I believe last year people at the Melbourne race or the promoters were threatening a law suit because of the lack of ambiance of the F1 cars.

Dump the hybrid cars and bring back the V8's!!!!

I supercharged my lawnmower.....6hp is now 9hp!

I do remember the 1.5L 1300 hp cars back in the 80's and it was the same lawn mower sound back then......more backfires though.

That's bc you run straight pipes off the motor with a 2-1 headers

I noticed in 2013 a lot people were wearing ear muffles. In 2014, nobody was wearing them. lol

At this time, I would take 18000+ RPM V8 over that ERS V6.

If I have a luxury to choose, V10 all the way.

Yea tell me about it…even some f8x owners were saying they don't sound too good after watching that

I also agree the X/M5/6's don't sound that great either. Barely audible. You can't blame everything on FI either. The jag F-type I posted a while back here sounds ridiculous and so do the AMG's. C'mon BMW…you can do better than that.

The 5.5 V8TT AMG's sound mean as hell.

Don't forget the Audi 4.0T too... My friend has an RS7, it sounds mean AS HELL.
