Tire-Wheel Question

2013 M3 e93 convertible stock suspension
I have the wheels below
VOSSENŽ - VVSCV3 Matte Graphite (20" x 9", +35 Offset) Front
VOSSENŽ - VVSCV3 Matte Graphite (20" x 10.5", +42 Offset) Rear

and ordered the tires below...
Michelin Pro Sport
255-35-20 front

295-30 rear

Does anyone know if they work or if there are issues... rubbing....
I have 10,12,15mm Spacers available if needed. Just wondering if this works at all....

Thanks for your Constructive thoughts.

You figured you'd ask this AFTER placing an order, huh? (Doing some math now for you anyway, will report back...)

Ok, compared to the stock ZCP wheels, here are the wheel positioning changes imposed by your new wheels, assuming no spacers:

Front -- Width remains constant, but the wheel will be 4mm inboard.
Rear -- Overall width increases by 0.5". Outside edge will be 10.65mm farther inboard, inside edge will be a whopping 23.35mm farther in. I'm not even sure that will mount.

As for overall diameter difference, the OEM setup only has a 0.5" difference front to rear, for a 1.57" circumference difference. Your proposed sizes are actually identical in terms of overall diameter, which shouldn't be a problem for DSC/ABS to deal with.

As for rubbing and spacers, I can't say for certain. But judging from these numbers and what I've seen other members run, I'd be surprised if either axle worked properly, especially the rear. I assume you're also doing this mostly for bling? Larger, wider tires are not necessarily better for performance since they actually make you slower in all situations that aren't traction-limited and also make the car feel heavier and slower to turn-in. In your particular case, you're adding 2 lbs to each front corner and 4 lbs to each rear corner, which may not sound like much, but that is unsprung, rotating mass, the worst possible kind. That's also just the impact of of the tires; the wheels will represent even more added mass. And lastly, even if you do find a spacer setup that fits, you may want to look at the change to your front and rear track widths, since that can affect handling too.

thank you for your help. Yes I made the mistake of not checking on offset numbers on the rims I purchased. And now I have to figure out to make it work somehow. I was hoping with the spacers I can make it fit somehow without rubbing....

so was just told by Vossen that 15mm spacers would put the rim in its recommended offset (+20mm in front and +27mm rear)
then I should go with 255/30/20 in front and 295/25/20 rear.

thoughts ?

That will probably make for a pretty crappy ride, and the overall diameter difference between those sizes is 0.8", which might cause some DSC issues. I'm also fairly certain that you would be in uncharted waters with this wheel and tire setup in terms of this forum's experience, which considering how long the M3 has been around and how active this community is, is saying something.

To be honest, I think you should be trying to find a wheel (and tire) setup that fits the car, not trying to find a car setup that fits your wheels.

This is correct. We do offer correct M3 offsets without the use of spacers as well as our Vossen Forged custom fitments as well.

If you want to keep the same wheels, yes those spacers are recommended to make it work.

255/35 and 295/30 are good fits on 19" wheels, though both may have some minor rubbing. On 20" diameter wheels they are an inch bigger diameter than they should be, which is a pretty significant difference. The front especially is not tolerant of overly tall tires.

So no need to even install the tires on those wheels. I have seen some people to use those widths. But maybe on lower priofile tires. What tires will work then.

255/30R20 front should work pretty well. 245/30R20 will also work, though it may look a little stretched (9" is the max wheel width for that size). It wouldn't be anything crazy, but it won't overlap the wheel much.

The rear is a little bit tougher.

305/25R20 fits the wheel but is pretty wide and may require some modification to fit.

295/25R20 might be a little easier to fit but is a few tenths of an inch shorter than the 255/30R20 front. Not the end of the world, but not perfect.

275/30R20 is the perfect height to go with a 255/30R20 front, but will be stretched on a 10.5" wheel.
