The mod list is pretty long but I'll touch upon a few... Forgestar F14 18x9+20 18x11+23 Brembo factory retrofit Seibon front lip (was being refinished when I took this picture) Seibon rear spoiler Borla cat back Stillen ceramic headers and Stillen high flow cats unorthodox racing pullies Cobb Springs Cobb custom tune (VIA Dynocomp) Bride Gias low max kevlar backed seats Custom alcantara steering wheel All in all, she put down 300whp and 270tq. Fun car, but after almost 7 years of ownership, it was time to grow up a little....

When mechanically sound (mine was) the E39 M5 is pretty much faultless, except for the cupholders. P.S. For about 2 months I had both. I'd really like to do that again.

I considered going with an E39 M5 before getting my E90. I could have had one for half what I paid for my car, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to deal with the potential heartache that could come with a 10 year-old, 100k mile M car. Sounds like the M3 is clearly superior on the track - what about the M5 do you miss the most (as a daily driver)? |

S62 is a very reliable engine. Some M5board guys have 250k on it -- all original. I had more preventative maintenance costs with the M5 than reactive I think. Did clutch + flywheel, MAFs, plugs, handbrake, etc. I remember my a/c failed, battery died, I replaced a fuse… I'm probably forgetting 1-2 items, but that's about it. I owned it for 3 years and 35k miles. Sold with 75k on the odometer. Good examples can be had for less than $20k nowadays. If you can find one with some of the big bills already taken care of that's an unreal bargain. Like I said, still tempts me. It's the M5 I'd want over any other. Probably a good thing I don't have the garage space. But the advantage of the E39 over E90 on the highway is equaled or surpassed by the advantage of the M3 on track.
