If you gonna get on Jet black then go for the moonroof. Black on black carbon doesn't show the carbon fiber roof it'll be the same as with the moonroof. Now if you were to get it on AW exterior the carbon fiber roof is the best match.

CF, less weight. Don't really need a moonroof on a sports car. It may not stand out on a black car, but I think that's kind of appealing in itself. If you get the moonroof, I think if you saw an M with a CF roof you'll say "I wish I had gotten the CF". But if you get the CF, I don't think you'll say "I wish I had gotten the moonroof".

Got myJet Black with the CF Roof. Doesn't stand out like AW or other lighter colors but it still has a very cool look when you approach the car.
Plus its lighter - different from most cars - Moon roof is nice but you're buying an M3! If there's a reason they decided to lower the weight/center of gravity dont counter it by getting a moonroof! IMHO of course. |

Got AW with a moonroof and never been happier...seems by the responses you are getting that CF might be helping you fit in and not stand out ! ha.

If you like it, go for it. Without a doubt it makes the car stand out from other cars as a unique feature.
My opinion though is that it does not make near the difference on a dark color. For lighter colors, such as AW, the car just does not pop like it does with the CF roof. To me, the lines of the car show much better with the contrast of the CF and it creates a completely different look from the 3 series and other cars. For the darker colors, the lines look the same with either roof but you get the nice look up close so it is not as much of a must for me on black. My dealer's first two Ms were an AW w/moonroof and a JB w/CF. Everyone there agreed that they should have been equipped vice versa. Then seeing an AW / CF, . |

Nothing better than cracking open the moon roof on the way to work with my cup of coffee. I could care less about center of gravity since I will never race the car on the track. Plus I really doubt that the added weight would ever be noticed by an amateur driver.
Moon roof +1

i know the feeling...you don't want to sell out from M and get the moonroof, but you know how nice it will be to get that extra sun and wind blowing through the car. people have already said this, but exterior color makes a difference. if you are going jb or jzb, i'd say go moonroof if you are undecided. but for lighter colors, CF is the way.
