Sideways image post?
Anyone have trouble with loaded images appearing sideways when you upload them with a post? Some of my photos end up sideways when I upload and I cannot for the life of me figure it out. They are definitely upright before I upload them.

If the pics were taken with an iPhone - the apple devices (and some android) store the image rotation in Exif meta-data, instead of physically rotating the bytes of the image. That means that with some browsers the images will come across rotated.
This is particularly true when the site you are uploading them to resizes them -- if the site's code doesn't handle the exif data, the rotation will be lost on resize. Neat idea to allow lossy formats like JPG to be rotated without re-compression - but annoying at times too. Anyways... that's my geek-out for the day. (And if it wasn't obvious, I do that stuff for a living). -Scott |

It actually has to do with the direction your phone was rotated when you took the original photo. In your case you can bet you didn't have the phone rotated the same way when you took the two differing posts.
