My holiday treat - NOT!

My wife and I were rear ended today in the broad daylight of the afternoon while stopped at a traffic light. The guy promptly left the scene of the accident.
Great warmup for the 4th of July holiday, huh?

If you have ever thought about coming over to KY, don't. No one here follows the law on the roads. Several weeks ago I had a near miss with a head on because some KY driver was on our side of the highway going 70 mph+ on a Saturday morning.

People here are running traffic lights, turning stop signs to yield signs and every other lawless thing you can think of on the roads.

Sorry to hear that. That just sucks ass.

Glad you are ok though. We can replace the rear bumper but what a shitty way to start off the holiday weekend.

Sorry 'bout that man. Hope you guys are ok. Unfortunately, it happens everywhere. When we moved from Cincinnati to Houston, my car insurance increased significantly. Our Denali has been rear ended twice here and both times went through USAA. I'd go through your insurance.

In my opinion, Houston drivers are the worst I have seen.

OP, sorry about your accident. Did you get his plates?

Thanks guys, wish I could have gotten his plates. Everything that could go wrong went wrong.. starting with I was letting my wife drive my M for the very first time. The guy stayed behind me before he gunned it when the light went green and he yelled out that he would pull over to a parking lot. So, he faked us out and then ripped through the traffic lights and with my wife driving we had no chance to do anything. It all happened so fast.

He had no intention of staying at the scene yet led us to believe that he would

Sorry to hear that. Some stupid little bimbo did the same to my mustang. I pulled over and she took off. I chased her down but she made it through a light. At the same light was a cop and I got out and told him what happened. We didn't see where she went so there was nothing he could do.

A front mounted .50 cal would solve the hit and run problem nicely. Still haven't found a good aftermarket distributor for one though.

That's like the story that everyone says, "My city, _____, is the most dangerous for motorcycles." I've heard that yarn three-hundred times.

The fact is, drivers in North America, suck suck suck, and continue to get worse.

Until we put real teeth in driver's tests (with repeat demonstration of skills on regular intervals) AND tow and auction/demolish every vehicle operated without insurance, you can expect driving conditions to become more dangerous.

Yah some people are just horrible humans.

Even though I get annoyed when people stay in the middle of the road and don't pull over after an accident I understand that is "safer" for the victim in terms of the perp not running off.

I always tell people to get out of your car immediately as soon as its safe and take a picture of the license plate, car, driver etc ASAP. If the guy sees you have pictures he won't run off
