I agree that the color choices for the M3 are a little disappointing.

If I had ordered an individual color, I'd have ordered Estoril Blue; but $5k+ for just paint is a bit hard to justify, IMO.

Of course that still doesn't answer whether that's true because red cars are more attractive ticket targets for cops or whether people who choose red cars have a higher tendency to drive in ways that will result in a ticket.
No no no no no no.

That is in tickets per capita meaning 5% of cars are red and 5% of tickets issued are issued to red cars.

While 20% of cars are grey but 30% of tickets issued are to grey cars.

Well, you gotta know what my choice is. The price for individual color is well worth it. I have the only Monte Carlo Blue 2012 M3 in the state. With all the extra goodies I have on it, it does get a lot of attention.

what's the difference between Brilliant White and Mineral White? I was told both are metallic and looks like pearl white. Seen MW in person but never BW.

OP, I say pick Space Grey, that's what I have and the contrast between the grey and the black/CF parts is subtle, which is the look I'm going for. Also, SG itself has very nice contrast in light itself, ranging from a light to a dark grey depending on where the light shines. Because of this, it shows off the many beautiful angles of the car very, very well. SG FTW!

Brilliant White is a richer metallic white with much more character than the Mineral White. As far as I am concerned there is no comparison between the two, hence the extra cost for the Brilliant White.

The extra cost for Brilliant doesn't have anything to do with the fact that it may be "better", just that it's not a color that's offered by default on the M3. On cars where BW was a standard option (earlier 7 Series models I believe), then Mineral White would have been the added-cost option for the same reason if it had existed then. BW isn't one of those "quasi-Individual" options that are listed on the ordering sheet but considered "premium" colors and therefore always cost more.

Anyway, as to BW vs MW, MW to me looks like a pretty expensive paint job because it's got a cool texture to it, just like a mineral rock, actually. Kind of similar to Moonstone in that regard, though it doesn't have the color shifting properties of Moonstone. There's a thread that has side-by-side pics of AW and MW that will show you what I mean. As for BW, I've never seen it, but from pics it does indeed seem to be a richer, brighter white, whereas MW is more low-key but "edgier".

Atlantis Blue if you going for Indiv.
I know that you have black rims and the like, but because it has not been mentioned, Jerez Black

If you want a black on black colour car, that would be a good choice. JB has this brilliant hue of blue and purple at certain angles.

Good luck with your colour choice!

If you'd like to go individual I'd suggest Midnight Blue with Rust Brown interior. Personally I think it looks gorgeous.

Here's a link: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...09&postcount=3

But if you're keeping your black parts, it will not go with Midnight Blue, so then my suggestion would be Brilliant White or Moonstone

I am not sure why you think that I think that BW is better simply because it is more expensive???

BW is more expensive than MW because it is a more involved paint process since it is actually a tri-coat (three colour paint process) paint and then clear coated on top of that. MW is a regular single stage metallic white and hence less cost, depth, and character. This tri-coat process is also one of the reasons why a BW car takes more lead time than most other colours. I was told 6 months for BW if I wanted it (as opposed to 3 months for Moonstone)....... it was also $6k CDN as opposed to the $3900 CDN for the Moonstone. In the end the money or the wait had nothing to do with my choice of Moonstone over BW, I just really loved the Moonstone and it is what I decided upon.

The reason why BW was a regular colour option on the 7 series individual sedan is because the 7 is BMW's most expensive and model and the added cost of the paint could be justified on their flagship.

Because in your earlier post you said that BW was so much richer and that there was "no comparison" to MW, "hence the added cost". I apologize if I misunderstood, but that phrasing sure makes it sound like you think it costs more because it looks richer and better to the point of there being no comparison rather than because it would be a custom order.

I don't think the US has variable pricing for Individual colors; I believe it's $5K for whatever color you want as long as they're able and willing to do it, unless you want to have them create a new paint color matched to something you have.

I was torn between interlagos and Jerez Black. I went with Jerez. Classy and not overly flashly.
