I need a quick answer about the technology package
Does anyone play around the EDC setting all the time? I am trying to decide on E90 without the technology package; therefore it doesn't have EDC setting. I know it would probably be better to have it, but honestly, do I really need. I mean the car handles like a mother. Please I need your input. Thanks in advance for answering.

Yes, yes and yes. If you have a wife/gf, bad roads, take your mom out, etc, the comfort vs stiff becomes huge.

Can the EDC settings be changed while driving or does the car need to be stationary to change the settings?

But Dascamel, if you leave it on the normal setting, it wouldn't be stiff. It is just regular ride. the only thing I can see it being useful, if you are on a track, and you are taking a hard corner, the EDC will come in handy. Another thing, I am worried down the road if that EDC electronically controls the dampening, then any future shocks I get has to accommodate the sensors. I don't know if that makes sense to you. Therefore, if something does go wrong, repairs are going to be hell of a expensive.

Me too, but I would say 90% of the time I am in Normal. Comfort is only for the highway and there I still usually in Normal. Sport is what I have my M drive programmed for most of the time, but some of the back roads where I live are terrible so again Normal is used.

edit: Stiff on great roads is incredible, response, feedback, sway, everything.

The only thing that I am concern about, if I don't get the tech package, is the navigation. and that is a big loss. I can care less about EDC. heck, I remember my E36 M3: no nav, manual seat, no EDC crap, no nothing. Just AC, sunroof, bad ass stereo system, 5 speed AC schnitzer short shift, supercharger, and lots of fun. HEHEHE.

Don't even need to ask... if you can really afford a 70k car... an extra 3k is nothing.

It doesn't really, since Normal is an active mode, while a non-EDC car is passive. A non-EDC car would compare most readily to an EDC equipped car in Sport mode (since it's non-active), though reviewers claim the EDC car in Sport is just a bit stiffer.

yes because paying for options you dont need is always wise. i dont get why people keep saying if you are questioning a few grand you are out of your pricerange. there's no point in paying for things that you will never use. i think the biggest issue with the m3 is that the option list is over 10k large, going from 54k base to over 70k is ridiculous. obviously there are people that use it and enjoy having edc or nav or whatever, but i know i certainly havent missed having them, and it hasnt diminished my enjoyment out of driving the car not to mention a nice bonus of 3k in my pocket.

I fall into the non-tech package camp. The bulk of the cost there is the NAVi system which I just dont think is worth it. But that's only my opinion. If you are really torn and want to hedge the cost a bit, save $2K+ and just get EDC and a Garmin. good luck!

Definitely go for the EDC. I have a wife and she is convinced the car is more comfortable than her 3 series. I think it is too. I think it's worth the cash, and even when she is not in the car it's nice to stiffen up a bit when going over speed bumps or entrances to shops that have a nasty dip. I have an e90 too, and I think it's certainly worth it.
