No M5 for me, the M3 is heavy enough.

I figured you were having fun. It's all good.

serious question though, since the M5 is faster than the M3, if you stripped it down as well, wouldn't that be better than a stripped m3 for the track?

yea but i don't think that extra 86 hp is enough to make up all that weight from m3, m3 weights 3,704 and has 414 hp and m5 weights 4,012 and has 500, there is 400lbs difference and 86 hp, so if you stripped like 100-300 lbs of weight from m5, that m5 will be ready for anything. so for your question, i say that m5 will be better if you take that much weight.

There is also an issue with size and weight distribution, so even if you really strip down the M5, its not going to be and M3 on track, albeit faster.

weight distribution is a major element to a good track car, thats one thing that is wrong with ripping out the back like I did, your not getting equal distribution, but it makes the car even funner to drive, and harder for that matter

Dosen't have to be an E92. Any car like a MB CLK63 Black series or whatever, I just want to get some ideas of what is possible and have only found what you posted. I think its a nice start. I don't think I want to eliminate the rear seats though but I do have to change everything anyway as my interior is Fox Red and the BMW Perormance seats that I got are black alcantara. This means I have to change everything that is Fox Red in the rear and front doors to a combination of black leather and alcantara. If the rear seats end up being somwhat smaller, that is fine with me since they are only really used by my very young kids everyonce in a while.

yea but isn't the weight distrubition depended on the drive train and not the wheels of the car ?? it will sure effect the back but its going to be like 55-45 distribution, or maybe even 60-40, but that thing will be hauling ass out of the corners, but why will it be harder to drive unless you turn the DTC off ?? (which most of you guys do on the track )

btw denial with 335i (modded) said hi from taft and i saw you today on ventura blvd going toward de soto, i honked with my friends car but you couldn't hear with your windows up, your car looks even more amazing in person and those orange reflectors where going really nicely with you car IMHO

Well, generally a track car would rather have a tad more weight in the back than in the front, this is why mid-engine sports cars are generally superior on track (v.gr., Enzo, F430 Scuderia, Pagani Zonda, etc…) than there front engine counterparts. Less weight in the rear relative to the front may make the car a bit more tail happy on curbs, etc… as well as make take-offs more challenging, so for a car such as the E92 M3, you probably want to a bit more weight off the front and keep it balanced at around 50/50. Much the way it was designed. Rear seats however aren’t quite in the back, they are more toward the middle, so it would intuitively appear to me that Unique’s weight reduction scheme may yield some benefits that IMO are probably imperceptible. However, based on some of my rather limited experience, though I have been involved in a couple of weight reduction projects with other vehicles, IMO it will by no means degrade his track performance. NICE...

nice job on the strip-down, i think you should carpet the back to hide all wiring like they do on the porsche RS..
