Hi guys, for me the best m3 is the e36 3.2 with 321hp, 6MT and lighter than the e46 and e92, the e30 just have a 4 cylinder and few hp for comparate with the others
After if you want more horsepower you can put a turbocharger type GT40 to hâve aproximatively 600hp with correct mapping (alpha N) For me the best, lighter and power ^_^ |

Well, I don't really feel like I can/should vote. I don't think someone should vote solely based on what they own. I've bought plenty of cars only to find an older/different model I wish I had gotten instead. Anyway, the other reason for now voting is because I really don't think there is a "best". Taking the transmission options out of the equation; all generations have been great and each have their attributes that make them exceptional cars. For me, I was always into American muscle. However, when I first saw an e46 M3; I was in love with it. I raced a few in drag races with my modded Camaro and I felt good when I beat them in a straight line. Do you know why that is; because I was lying to myself. I really wanted the M3 but I was so stuck on the SS and look what I can do with xxx less dollars. What a waste of money. Yeah right; when my brother in law turned me on to BMW this year; there is no going back. I ended up with my e46 M3 and I absolutely love the car. I'd like to get an e90 but I rather doubt I am going to replace the e46. I also have plans on either getting e36 M3 and throwing a turbo on it. My problem is I want pretty much all of them. The e30 would be sweet too; but I seriously doubt I'll ever pay for one.

According to nurburgring lap times top 100 list. The e92 GTS is exactly two seconds quicker around the ring than the e46 csl.

seriously 76% of people voted for the e9x which was surprising to me. I expected the order to be like e30, e46, e9x, e36 (even though that isn't really appropriate). i gave my vote to the e36 even though i haven't had the chance to drive the e30 or e46. the e36 is so underrated it's not even funny. completely overlooked but it's just an amazing car.

E36 doesn't get a lot of love.
For me E92 for the soundtrack E46 for the overall package and timeless design E30 is a classic just like MK1 GTI All that being said the E46 was ahead of it's time. It looked stunning and had great performances(almost supercar like). My ideal M3 would be an S65 E46 M3. However I do love the rasp from the inline 6. If I had unlimited garage space and money I would buy all generation GTI's and all generation m3's but I would have no problem skipping the MK3 GTI and E36 M3.

The E36 doesn't get love because the US spec E36 was a whopping joke compared to the Euro version which made the step up to the E46 M3 seem mild for those guys.
The US version was not high revving, shared all same major body panels with the non M 3 series minus the bumpers and skirts. It was just a weak car compared to what an M3 has traditionally been compared to its non M counterparts. But seeing as I was coming of driving age in 1998, it was THE dream car for me. |

I'm not sure when i said the M3 is a raw sportscar but regardless of that, I find manual M3s more enjoyable. Let's not instigate a DCT vs MT discussion, this is about which M3 you prefer, not which is faster!

This is how I feel too. Only I'd rather defend your car instead of mine.

Mine too. Have owned 3 of the 4 generations so far (skipped the E46).
The E30 is just so much fun to drive. The E30 M3 is the one that sits in the garage and waits for sunny days to go out for long drives. The E92 is the one I drive to work everyday. Don't get me wrong, I love the E92 as well. It's just a totally different car. Its "digital" and the E30 is "analog" if you know what I mean. The E36 was a fun car as well, just not as memorable as the other 2. I will be skipping the F82. Hopefully ///M will get back to building a NA car again. |
