Dented my right side skirt FUCK

I was dead exhausted from work and made a right at a turn and apparently was too close to the curb and hit it. If there is a recommended body shop in the bay area that could fix it, that'd be appreciated. If not, how much would it run me to buy another side skirt?

Can you spot the dented skirt

I would say I wont be notice it at first glance. But with this sexy babies, we almost always make sure every dent is taken cared of asap. Idk abt if it can be repaired.

Yes very clear . Your dented skirt requires a replacement ..

Yup. If you had to replace anything, this is the easiest.

No. You have to take your car to a body shop and have them blend the paint from the door panels to 3/4 panel to ensure the pain seamlessly "blends" or matches. Or you can be very ghetto and have a shop just mix up your paint code and spray it and do a simple install.

That color and that low, it shouldn't be necessary to blend spray. An overpainting of the other panels will be evident with a paint thickness meter and would lower the value, IMO. I would have the new panel painted to match off the car and bolt it on.

I agree. A good shop shouldn't need to blend that color.
Even better, if you can find a clean used one of the same color you could try that out. Worst case is that you'd have to have it repainted anyway.

Sent you a PM about my favorite shop in SF. I've tried a few.

This looks pretty straightforward. Larry will give you options and you can go from there. Don't sweat it too much!

Ugh. The E90M skirts, fenders, hood and rear bumper are the parts I worry about availability on in the future. Plastic (except the hood), easy to damage and they only made 10,000 of them total

I have seen shops putty repair dings like that and respray the whole part and have it come out pretty good too.

Agreed. I see no reason to touch perfectly good paint on the door and fender. You run the risk that the blending is poor and any slight color/metallic flake mismatch will be glaringly obvious. That will lead to even more money being spent to try and fix it.

A competent shop can read the current color on the car with a special computer and then mix paint to match. Being that low on the car, that small, and black paint...99/100 people won't be able to tell. I bet YOU won't be able to tell unless you are kneeling down and looking up close.

This will keep the cost down and also mean you won't have to leave the car at the bodyshop. You'd literally drop off the new skirt, have them read the car's current color, and come back in a day or two to pick up the finished part. Out of pocket cost is probably $200, $300 max. If they had to do a door blend, it would probably be triple and take a day or two.

10,000 is actually quite a lot. If this were Alfa and the number were 1,000 then I'd be worried. 1 - bc of shortage and 2 - bc they would fall off the car while driving 😜

Plus, over 50% made it to the US, which means junk yards will have good options

So just order through a dealer and have a shop spray and install? My guy at 4-B Auto could get the dent out for $250 but a new side skirt panel is almost $200. Might as well order thru dealer, and have them paint it Jerez Black and have a shop install it. Paint is one thing I'm extremely finicky about, everything HAS to match.

Got your message tlow, I'll call Larry tomorrow once I get his number.

Paint thickness can only be measured on metal anyways

My experience is you don't need to blend black if they get the color match at all close.

True, but how many Alfas spin leaving cars and coffee because of slight tire pressure imbalances

you're right though I shouldn't worry. And Jerez is the most common color so I'm ok I guess

Still have a nervous tic where I search for parts cars once a week
