E92 m3 price drop soon?
Hi, I'm looking ahead about 2 or 3 years to when i want to buy my e92 m3. I am looking for a preferably 2013 competition package DCT e92 coupe with 20k miles or under. Right now i find the ones i like for around 67k or 70k but in 2 or 3 years i should have around 45k or 50k to spend. Do you guys think i will be able to find one with my preferences for that price in 2 or 3 years? Thanks in advance for any help. By the way the reason i don't know if it will be 2 or 3 years is because i just don't know how long i will have to wait to save up that much cash. (i want to pay in cash for the car)

Also, someone did a excel spreadsheet on depreciated values of m3's. Try googling it. Good luck.

Here's my advice: Don't seriously look that far ahead. Too much can change with regards to everything. When you are in the position of actually buying, then start looking with the idea that you can buy at the instant the right deal comes along.

Sounds like you're asking us to forecast the future. Top tip, cars depreciate, just how much they depreciate is anyone's guess.
Maybe the new f80 platform will tank, and the prices on the e90 will stablize. You never know. But my advice is if you want an M3 get one. YOLO |

Yeah, predicting out 2-3 years is somewhat pointless.. Just take look at what 2010s are going for now if you want to see what the 13s will be doing in 3 years. Why though - planning that far out for a car purchase is a bit ridiculous. If you want one, get a 2010 now. If not, wait until the three years, then decide what you want.. your prefeerences will likely change in that time. That said, I would say the depreciation on these cars is fairly predictable. Maaaaybe if some huge world crisis happens, they will drop significantly. But not much else is going to drive the price down. Folks that think they are collectable and all that are kidding themselves. They are as collectible as all the other previous Ms.
BTW, I just bought a near mint condition loaded 2013 for 62. The limerock one you saw, they are trying to charge a premium for that color since its rare. 67 is high for a standard color 2013 M3, unless it has 100 miles on it. Even then... maaaybe. |

People will pay you higher than market if you have what they want
if you want it and found what you been looking for in terms of price, colors, tranny etc.... go for it I can't think of myself saving for cars 2-3years waiting the price to go down. After 2-3 years you buy one and another 2-3 years later, you will lose another 5k-10k again,,, and again,,,, |

screw what everyone is saying how you cant plan that far ahead. Its complete non sense.
to answer your question there is no reason why a 2013 in two years cant be bought in the 40Ks |

This^. I waited for 4 yrs before I felt comfortable buying my E92. I had an E46 though so that made the wait easier.

Yea it will definitely drop but who knows by how much. From what I remember, e46's were still up there even after the e92 came out. E92 will definitely go down, but I think will stabilize around $20-25k for a decent mile lci. I know I overpaid, but I wanted to get one now while they're still fresh. I would hate to be looking for a car like this 6-7 years after they come out.

Hi guys, thanks for all the replies. I sort of have to plan in advance. I am still in high school and want to make sure i am going to have enough money to buy the car in college but still leave some extra money to be able to pay for maintenance if it needs it when I'm not working.

Why would i do that? Although my financial situation would be better i am not going to have a problem paying for the maintenance or gas during college. Like people have said before. Im only young once so i might as well buy a nice car if i have the money to do so in college. Also like someone said previously in the comments the longer I'm going to wait the older the e92 will get and i really love the e92 style and i don't particularly like the f80 platform. So i want to get the e92 when it is still relatively fresh styling.

There's a lot of people eying these cars as the price goes down. One just popped up in my neighborhood, so they must be getting affordable. E9x owners are cool with me.
