Base system AMP upgrade...advice pls

If i just upgrade the AMP and only the AMP, will i hear an improvement in sound, bass, and overall clarity???

secondly, if yes to the above, What is a good amp that's basically sufficient and plug and play...swap out the oem for this one...i dont want to have to install special mounts or pieces or wiring...i just want to unplug the stock and plug this new one in....

please help...ive search and searched but most are upgrading speakers and amp..i just want the amp.

I would assume that you are talking about the standard, HiFi audio system in the M3. If so then the options are:

1) JL Audio XD600/6 amp ~$400
2) JBL MS-8 amplifier/DSP processor, center speaker and center speaker OEM grill ~$650

Either option requires a HiFi harness for complete PnP install. PM for details.

Your M3 HiFi system does not have a center speaker.

The suggestion is to add a center speaker in your dash if you get a JBL MS-8: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=477443

There are also reviews of our HiFi upgrade package for the E90 M3:

And a number of reviews of our plug-in, bolt-on kits in the E90 section as well.

OK, so i was on the phone with Crutchfield, getting ready to order the Amp JL XD600/6 and the guy told me if i hooked this up to the stock oem speakers, it would blow them out as soon as i turned it on...saying that this amp would give it too much power than the speakers can handle....is this true??

He also told me it would make no difference in sound unless i swapped out the stock speakers..

why have i seen people say they use this without an issue?? confused here

Well, speaking as someone who has traveled to the backwoods of Eastern Tennessee (I mean western Virginia) and trained Crutchfield phone salesmen on product, you should probably know that there aren't any BMWs out there. Can't fit the gun racks in the back, or something.

Why do you assume the guy at CF knows anything about our cars?

Now, I also say that the stock speakers won't last forever off of a new amp, and our HiFi packages use new F and underseat speakers. But we use stock rears and have yet to hear of one of those failing.

The upgrade reason #1 is sound quality. If you play loud bassy program material, such as rap, the stock woofs will fail eventually, sure.

Wait a minute, I represent that statement, my gun rack fits just fine, thank you!
