I'm too lazy -- someone enlighten me to what the build is of the bottom end of these engines. I'm assuming they've got some pretty heavily built internals.

Whoever said the car was a 335 on that thread -- lol. I'm also curious to see more information on whoever was talking about removing the emissions hardware (or whatever) and adding a heavy tune.

What do you think the price will be for this kit (speculation). I think Dinan's kit for the E46 was what... $20k? I'd gladly pay $20,000 for 600 whp.....

Woops, 12.0 CR. I cannot see things going too well with a lot of boost on that thing on pump... I vote 7 psi and 550 whp :P

Your Mustang doesn't have an aluminum block and 12:1 CR.

I may be totally mistaken here, but from the looks of the graph , the power is more linear than a turbo setup in a 335 would be. My guess is supercharger kit, most likely in an E93 M3. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Probably poking fun because your stunning revelation came on page 2.... after it was already established that it was an M3 after the first post (if the redline didn't give it away or the stock M3 dyno overlaid)

I think every company is waiting for someone else to set the price. With the way exhaust prices are going, my guess would be a kit like this will be starting well over $15k. However I must say the numbers are impressive, especially at relatively low boost levels. Does anyone here have any experience with ESS? I thought they were just a tuning company. It would be nice to know what kind of components will be in this "bolt-on" kit. At or under $15k and I'd be in the market for a 5-7psi kit in the 500-560whp range. 600whp is a 75% increase in power, and with a high strung 8400rpm motor, I'd have to assume, reliability is going to struggle if you're like me and visit redline often. At $25k for a motor, reliability will be my high on my list for choosing a kit.

ESS does most of their business in europe, but they have solid kits.

If I went this route, I would be running < 6 PSI, should be fine even on piss 91.

They are testing the reliability and durability right now, we shall see. They won't give you something that will blow a motor, business would end right there.

ESS does more FI on BMW's then any other tuner. If you visit the website www.esstuning.com you will get an idea of how many models they build and sell kits for around the world not including the custom projects like the Loaded CSL M3. They have been first to the market with FI for several models of BMW's so its not a suprise to see them with the first mass production kit for the E92 M3 in testing. The introduction of this kit has made the decision to buy a new E92 very easy

15K for a SC kit is waay to much!
For that price it better include
A fuel system
Fuel pump
bigger injectors
A custom tune or ecu (not a mail away ecu "refalsh")

For a bolt-on supercharger, it should be around 10k + install. At the most 12k + install with everything you listed which includes the "M3 TAX". Its not like the internals will be modefied.

6 psi sounds safe an ideal for me. I'm glad to hear the good things people say about them, and I like how they state they build their kits for race cars, so reliablity and performance are a must, and they have race teams holding them accountable for their products. Are they based in the states? Man I'm getting giddy just thinking about 500whp. I want them to hurry up, but I still have some saving to do before I'm ready to drop that kind of cash, so they can take their time.

It sucks that you guys only get 91, we get 93 here in FL. When I lived in NJ, I used to love going to Sunoco and filling up with Ultra 94! I don't think they carry it anymore though


Edit: I just read the company profile, and it looks like they are based out of Norway with a sales center in the US.

They seem to build pretty reliable kits. Their customer service is really good as well. ESS has a US based office in AZ. I think it is the guy who does the my330i site.

Kit seems to be great but agree 8psi may be a tad much for these engines. Would be interesting to know the price, my guess is also somewhere around $15. Sticky, < 6 psi sounds like the safe way to go.

If they have to design and manufacture a completely new upper plenum then $15k isn't a surprise, that's a lot of expense.

My guess is that the kits will be in the $12k to $15k range, maybe as high as $20k. It will be sticker shock, almost certainly.
