Nick Alexander BMW = F- Rating
I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced any problems with Nick Alexander in LA but after what I experienced I feel like I should share my story.
I Ordered a European delivery e93 M3, all went well in ordering and in Europe. Car was suppose to be delivered to the PC in South Carolina for me to pick up, but the dealer forgot and scheduled delivery of the car to LA instead, where it stayed for a couple weeks. I live in Miami and was anxious to drive the car and thought I might as well make the best of the situation and drive my convertible down the pacific coast hwy with my brother who lives out there. So i flew out to LA, after my sales rep said it wouldnt be a problem to drive the car there, but when I arrived he said that I will not be able to drive my car because of legal reasons (wish he would have looked into that before he told me yes i bought my ticket) and the best they could do is give me a loaner 328. I was pretty mad but what could I do, I said so be it just make sure its on the next truck out to miami. When I returned the loaner the sales rep told me the car left detailed and in an enclosed trailer with 3 other cars. Five days passed and I get the call that my car is in Miami ready to be delivered. The truck pulls up to my warehouse and to my surprise its on an open trailer with 10 other vehicles on the front. They bring the car down and it could not have been any dirtier. It was full of bugs, dirt and what not from the drive accross the country, i couldn't even seen the headlights. If he told me it was going to be on an open truck i would have put a front bra on it. Also, i get in the car and it still has dirt and pebbels on the floor from a castle in germany, a tissue that i used from a napkin in Prague as well as an empty McDonalds cup from there as well, point is it was no where near detailed. I had to pay someone to come to my warehouse to have it detailed before all the bugs and dirt dried into the paint. This is no where near the end of it. The next day after the detail I noticed a big dent in the roof. I have not yet driven the car because i don't have the tags, i'll get to that in a bit, and it spent the night inside my warehouse. The dealer claims it was not them nor the trucking company. At the moment this is not my biggest issue. My biggest problem is that there were no tags or registration sent with my car (which I paid for already). Not even a temp tag, and since there is no registration i cant even go out and get one myself. I emailed Nick Alexander for about 2-3 weeks asking for my tag and registration and got seldom responses. Finally I had to have BMW NA customer service contact the dealer GM who also is a real piece of work. It finally came in the mail and no one from the dealer followed up or asked if and when i received it. Horrible customer service! To this date. Almost 2 months since I've took delivery of my car they will not answer any of my questions on the Dent in My roof, the extra month my car sat in my warehouse because i had no tag or registration and extra time it sat in LA, or the Performance Center experience i was supposed to get in SC and did not since they sent the car to LA. Pretty long but i think people should know before they buy from this dealer! |

I don't know why you're not on their asses about all these? I would make a big deal out of this.

Tough situation for sure. I really feel for you. In regards to the truck transport, it is possible that it left in a closed truck and then went onto an open truck at a distribution point. This is very common in the vehicle shipping business when you don't pay for a dedicated, enclosed trailer for the full journey.
As far as the service that you have received, it is very troubling. Get a lawyer involved if needed. I would bet that a small form letter from a lawyer will get the attention of someone there. |

I have been. They do no pick up phone calls or answer emails. I am working with BMW NA now. But they seem like they dont want to help either. They told me I should hire an attorney. Really making me reconsider BMW after my 3rd one. For customer service reasons alone.

Liquidforce13,
This is quite a disappointing story you describe and something that BMW AG Germany would most certainly disapprove of. You experienced the true side of BMW in Germany and now are dealing with all this mess you described above. It must spoil the entire experience for you. I agree with the previous poster that you need to put your foot down and not let go until you have been satisfactory compensated. I would first contact Customer Relations USA Phone # 1-166-697-5043 or e-mail them at CustomerRelations@bmwusa.com Expect delays ... in my case it took almost 6 months and in the end it was a negative outcome. I simply gave up since I felt suing them for $700- was pointless. I did however post and named the Dealership here in this thread provided in this forum. I recommend that you do the same. Click here to go to Dealership Review Some BMW Dealerships should simply not be allowed to deal with the BMW product, I think it is high time that BMW AG Germany spend some of there profits on making sure that BMW Dealerships meet the requirements when it comes to service and Customer Relations.

In the case of the OP I must assume his car shipped all the way on an open truck and if so the Dealership let there guard down since this is definitely not the way that BMW proper would transport a car across country.

Oh buddy, I feel you. They did a similar thing to me in 2002. I ordered a Laguna Seca M3. It was suppose to arrive on my birthday. How cool is that right. Well, after ordering the car, giving my deposit and waiting. I was told 2 days before my birthday that they never ordered the car. They forgot. F that place. Sorry you're in this mess. Hope it works out for you.

I did ED in July of this year. Came upon a bunch of these CA who "knew how to do European delivery". But when you really questioned them it was clear they were full of sh*t. Finally found a bimmerfest board sponser whom really was an expert and I could tell immediately. Best decision in the whole process was going with a real pro. Your guys should be strung up by their balls.

You should name the good sponsor so others will know. I'm sure you believe in giving credit where credit is due

What a horror story. I hope it gets cleared up soon. Why did you buy the car in LA? Was the dealers in Florida not giving a good enough deal?

You should really stay on these guys...you should also review your contracts clearly and in real depth. Have an attorney in Miami take a closer look if you can. There is a case here. Delivery contracts should have stipulated how delivery was to be executed to the states and it's final destination as well. If the contracts you signed in Germany clearly stated all this (which should have been the case) they are liable for all damage, fees, and elapsed time from a purchased product. Seriously get it cleared up with them and if they are not willing to compensate every single cent that you put out...consult an attorney.
It would have been spectacular if you took photos of the car being delivered as described in your posts. Visual evidence combined with contractual should give you the weapons you need to get what's yours. You do this and they'll settle. |

OP, sorry to hear about your ordeal. What a mess! I hope you can get anyone and everyone involved and make them correct their wrongdoing. Mistakes happen, but it's what you do about it that counts. Sounds like they don't really care since the deal is done. That's just pathetic. I don't know how dealerships like them stay in business.
I know it's too late for you, but there are two great dealers on this forum. Ryan Amico and David Aviles. I ordered from David. It was first class all the way. He specializes in European Delivery. Wish I had done that, but couldn't. I just picked up the car from his dealership even though I live 200 miles away. He picked me up from the train station, had the temp tags on, explained all the options, and drilled the plate holder on to the front bumper at my request(I didn't want to mess with cops in Jersey). I realize that this should be the norm with purchasing a BMW. Hearing stories like yours, I don't think it is. This was a special purchase for me, my first car purchase. Everything went very smoothly. Poster above is right. We should identify the great dealers from inept ones. Good luck with the battle. And keep us posted!

It was only on one truck from LA to Miami. I have been in contact with the owner of the trucking company and he said he is trying to go after the dealer but if anything he will honor the dent repair and take it to his body guy. But i want this replaced at a BMW dealer. Im4citadel - I wish i took pics of the condition of the car before i normally do. But i was so excited my car was here i left my phone in the office and had no camera on me which is a rarity. Also the car was so dirty i couldnt notice the dent until it was waxed and the sun's reflection was distorted on the roof! On another note I will post some pictures and a more positive post about my European delivery soon!! P.S. anyone know of another way of being able to go to the PC, can i use my invoice or something showing i was supposed to do it but couldn't because of dealer error. I still really want to do this! |

Who's the sales rep?
That's pretty awful. Nick is generally known for service since they're in the middle of no where.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I cannot recall specifics, but over the years, I've come to view that dealership as one that I'd never even consider for a purchase or service. Sorry to hear about what you're dealing with. Hopefully it gets cleared up soon in your favor.

Lesson to all: If you're on the west coast and want to do an ED, go through GOLFFRR.

Adrian Avilla. BMW of South Atlanta. On the bimmerfest website there is a performance center section that I know is monitored almost daily by Johnathan. He works at the PC and answered several of my questions prior to PCD you might give him a try.

Agree entirely. Golffrr/Ryan Amico is the way to go on the west coast. Re your situation you should contact BMWNA immediately.

I agree 1000%! Go with Golfrr/Ryan Amico at Steve Thomas BMW! Ryan is a PRO at Euro delivery! Best car buying experience I ever had bar none. Ryan can even arrange pickup at the Performance Delivery Center in South Carolina for you east coast guys. I know that my next BMW purchase will be through Ryan Amico even though I'm moving to Washington DC next spring.

My dealer made it seem that there is a coupon or something of sorts that will allow you to do it outside of PC delivery. I know you don't want to deal with your current dealer, but maybe another may be able to help you out?

What an awful experience you've had. This idea is a long shot - If you can find someone who's going by themselves for the PCD, perhaps you can convince them to invite you as their guest?
