Saw that Bro, absolutely fantastic news!!!! Congrats on the hard work, looks like it's paying off bigtime, I'm happy that I'm moving on to the E92 myself, can't wait to see the ESS car in action!

You just might, a little birdie told me there could be a sweet unveiling at Bimmerfest 09.

Other than that I know little. I know its a Vortech system.

Good stuff! I decided to move on from the E46 and I've been driving the E92 for a few weeks now, really like the car, and have been wondering how it would respond to boost, looks like my hope that it would, was true! Reassuring to know the motor is handeling that boost level on pump fuel too!

OH MY! 560 wheel? On pump gas? Sign me up, now, just tell me how much and when.

Wow, I would have never guessed ESS would be able to do that quicker than VF or Active. 600 wheel at 8 psi... I'm so turned on.

Remember, even the 601whp was on pump fuel (93) and before fine tuning. They are already into durability testing which will take a few months as they hit the streets, their test track, the Autobahn, and the Nurburgring. Power numbers could change as they dial the system into perfection and reliability, but it is nice to see what it can do! Makes me want an M3.

I asked what we should expect for California 91.

For California 91, we should expect 6 PSI or less and around 525 rwhp, which is what I predicted a few months back

On 100 octane and a high boost pulley, it should be able to go over 600 wheel easily. With water / meth, who knows.

Yea i would say at least another 50-75 rwhp on high octane and another 35-50 on meth. Question is will the motor handle over 700rwhp? Im happy with 600rwhp . I hope that everyone will release their supercharger kits around the same time to drive competition up and prices down.

3. The M3 does not feel peaky to me. Keep in mind the power delivery is not peaky it is just very efficient and makes power til redline

4. My personal experience with centrifugal superchargers was underwhelming, when compared to other forms of FI, hence my own preference, derived from real world performance, or what I like to call personal experience.

5. I don't doubt that centrifugals are fast, or make power. So looking at a vid of a E46 running 11's or even 9's for that matter isn't going to change my preference.

5. It's all personal preference, I'm not trying to tell you one is better than the other, I would just choose something else first, if it put down similar peak numbers for a similar price.

6. It might make the most sense to you to accentuate the already top heavy powerband, but some people prefer to address the weaker points.
Have you ever driven a Mustang with an Novi 2000 -- or hell, a Procharger F-1?

Granted, I hear you -- and I love the roots blowers, and generally do prefer roots and turbos to centrifugal. But ^^ above statement again - they're crazy ridiculous.

I have driven a Mustang with a Procharger D1. It was a lot of fun. The car had a built 4.6 SOHC motor that with ported heads, cams, etc. It could be revved to be about 7200rpm.

Centrifugal superchargers on high revving V8s are a lot of fun. A roots or twin screw blower on an 8400rpm V8 would be a mistake. very linear power curve, not the huge spike of a turbo.

You'd have a heck of a time with Roots/Lysholm and the ITBs anyway... A centrifugal is lower cost and more in tune with the natural power curve of the M3's V8.

I've been in a procharged C5 Z06, and it was enough to scare me into a prius for the rest of my life. As far as which way for forced induction, you guys may be right, with the sky high redline turbo or sc might be the only way to go.

I apologize for my ignorance, but what is the problem with a roots on ITB's? Fitment?

Fitment and evenly distributing air to all 8 throttle bodies.

I've owned a D1 procharged 2006 Mustang it was fun, made 523rwhp and 493rwtq, but it's nothing compared to my Shelby GT500 with the roots hybrid blower. Torque on demand makes a big difference. My friend has a 600rwhp TT Mustang that's a lot of fun as well. I really think I'd prefer a turbo on an M3 as opposed to a centrifugal or roots. The turbo would also be more effecient that both of those. Only problem is where the hell do you put anything?

Not quite. It has to do with the fact that with a positive displacement like the Roots/Lysholm, you have the throttle body *before* the compressor. This is impossible with the ITBs.

However, it can be done by removing the ITBs and adding a single big "main" TB to the kit before the compressor. ESS created this for the E46 M3, however, it induces a response lag that did not meet their drivability standards and so the project was scrapped. It did make silly power though!
