The 265/30/20 in the front is the bigger issue. Again 255/30/20 is a common size and even that is tight on certain tires. 265/30/20 might be pushing it but I don't know if anyone has ever tried it. I'd like to know myself since I have the same dilemma.

got the new PSS on my car for about a month or so, the tires just don't feel right....the ps2 were great, so i expected this to be better overall... F 255/35/18, R 275/35/18 does this size look okay?

What about them doesn't feel right? Were the PS2's you had before the stock size?

How many miles have you put on them so far? It might take a while for the tires' grip to come to its optimum point.
I've had my new PSS on my car for about a month now and they feel great! Though I haven't been driving very aggressively too often yet since putting them on.

How many miles so far? They do need a few hundred miles to wear off the mold compound. Moving from used tires to new tires can also have an effect, as the car is a bit more squirely on the taller thread blocks. |

Honestly, I have been extremely happy with my set. Turn in is better, traction is better and they seem to be holding up to aggressive canyon driving. My set has been a marked improvement from my previous PS2's.
Richard, you may want to talk with Michelin or the store that you bought the tires from because you should feel an immediate difference after 500 - 1,000 miles.

I thought I was the only one! I've had my PSS on since mid march, about five thousand mile ago. And at 62K miles I have had two sets of PS2s and a winter set of Conti's DWS all seasons. These PSS lack the grip of the PS2s and does seem to break lose al lot easier than PS2s ever did. To me it seems to perform only on par of my Contis. I know about the release compound the he need for it to wear off, but after 5K miles there seems to be no appreciable difference since day one!

Most people are running 255/35/19 and 275/35/19. If you are going wih 18's, this would convert to 255/40/18 and 275/40/18 Better sizes on 18's would be 265/35 and 285/35.

Back on topic, with PSS on the rears, the car's steering has been blunted and quick direction changes, especially at higher speeds, occurs a fraction of a second slower than steering input, with the car taking a bit longer to level out. This is due to the fact that the PSS has a significantly softer side wall than the BMW homologated PS2. My fix: raise the pressure appropriately. This is not to say that the PSS is inferior, but rather that the tyres that came with the car from factory are custom made for the M3, therefore, will have certain characteristics that off-the-shelf tyres, of the same brand and model, will not. |
