You probably have 220E which means you would probably get 5-6 HP from this mod.
You should read through the thread before asking next time. Your question was answered here already: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...&postcount=157 Hope that helps! - KJ |

Not worth it unless you are on something older. I'm going to be offering a remote update package for 231E. Just perfecting everything first before I send it out. In my 'testing' I wound up bricking my DME. But that was the point - to make sure that it didn't happen to you! Will be making a thread on it in the next couple of weeks to explain a few more things. Right now behind tons of emails, sorry for slow replies.. Just a quick note: To those that said the could start is a bit more choppy with the newer software, you are correct. BMW changed the way that the ignition timing during secondary air system is calculated and there is a 'new method' which differs from the way it was calculated before. This is why you'll notice more choppiness during cold start with the newer software, completely normal.

Dealer did mine out of warrenty for free. Said it was of a recall/SB 0028010100...also gave me goodwill to replace the Brake Vacuum hose sensor. Threw the half engine/limp mode every half block.

Yeah, I got the same recall notice, but my SA had no idea if it meant updating to 231E or not. He's checking with the technician.

Updated today...
Old: E89X-08-03-510 New: E89X-12-03-502 Lots of traffic on way back, so I haven't been able to jump on it at all. No before/after dyno.

I just quoted what Tom @ EAS said, since he actually dyno'ed it before and after:

I went in for regular maintenance, and my SA informed me that there was a recall and that letters were sent out.

This was yesterday. He didn't know what it was for, but it was the same recall ID as the one listed above. He said he would ask the technician and let me know if it wasn't the 231E software update -- I haven't heard from him yet, so I assume that was it.

Got mine updated last week at Bimmersport. Was running 060E before the update! It's a subtle improvement but noticeable. The car runs better in general. I will get the car on a dyno soon to see if there are any increases in my HP numbers.

Wow. Did you happen to get a baseline dyno before the flash?

Sort of, I didn't get a stock run. My baseline dyno includes an AA filter and pulleys with a Meisterschaft rear section. 353RWHP and 257TQ. I will run the car with just the updated software and then again with new plugs (52k on the current set).

I don't have any Dyno runs but after upgrading to 231E I felt a noticeable difference in power. Butt dyno only though.

Anyone have anymore information on SB 0028010100? Bubbles just posted something about it in this thread as he knows the whole story but interestingly that post is gone now Guess he said too much?
