G37 vs E9X M3

One "look" modded G tailgate me last night and we had a bit fun.
That thing is fast and I couldn't walk away from it.....

Do you have any idea on the mods? I have a stock g37s and was hoping there would be a significant difference in acceleration between the m3 and the g37.

There is. G37 is not even in the same playing field. To put it into perspective, There is a bigger difference between an M3 and a G37 than a G37 and a G35.

Does anyone have comp data on the two? I would say that a G37 is more in S5 territory or below.

Its a G37

Actually, the coupe is respectable. Lots of SC kits...

g37? Isn't that more on par with the e46m?

Good to hear. I am getting ready to pull the trigger on an m3 and I currently have a g37. I had a g35 prior to the g37 and was disappointed with the performance difference (marginal at best) when the "new car" feeling wore off.

How would you compare your m3 with the g37? Performance, ride, handling, etc.

aside from the lack of convenience features on the G37S, the m3 has better handling and acceleration (esp w/ the M button on ). The car always makes me smile when I push her to the limits. M3 is definitely a different car versus the G

Simple answer is you have a 4000 lbs E93 Convertible. It is maybe slightly quick than a G37, but not by a whole lot. You said he was modded so that might have brought it even closer.

E90 and E92 would have been a completely different story, though.

My S5 used to beat G37s all day. Not by much, but then again my M3 now easily beats S5s.

There is no way a G37 would be that close to even an E93 without forced induction. I would wager he was trying out his new supercharger against you to see how he stacks up.

While the G37 is no M3, it's a nice car. In terms of straight-line acceleration though, they're not in the same league.

Short answer, he had mods or perhaps he got the jump on you or you were in the incorrect gear.

The G37 and late model G35s have similar performance due to weight. The 335i should outpace both of them without too much trouble.

While on topic of the Nissan VQ engines, the 2007-2008 350Z has the "HR" engine and is on par with a 335i and e46 M3.

There is a big difference. I owned not one, but two, G37S coupes. Loved them for sure. However, the M3 is FAR superior in every way.

- WAY faster from a dig and on the highway
- WAY better handling but, surprisingly, a more compliant ride in comfort mode
- More refined and much better fit and finish
- WAY better sound from the engine and exhaust

You will not be disappointed if you go with an M3. Like I said, I really liked my two G37S but every single time I drive the M3 I just LOVE it... even after 8 months and the "new car high" is gone.

It had to be modded and fairly extensively... I had two G37S coupes (see above post) and there is no way I could have stayed with an M3. I remember one day a Mazdaspeed 3 was on my ass and I couldn't shake him in the G37S (that's when I decided I needed to upgrade ).

Either you were in the wrong gear or he was heavily modded. Maybe, he attached a rope to your bumper and you were actually pulling him
