FS: Vorsteiner Titanium Exhaust
I traded in my car for an M coupe, so the exhaust is for sale. Shaves off ~38lb. Vorstiener claims peak gains of 14hp and 13 ft lb torque. I really bought it for the sound and weight savings. I've listened to some other M3 exhausts in person, which also sound great, but they tend to be over the top for a DD IMO. I've found this exhaust to be perfect in that regard--louder and deeper than stock while remaining civil--but of course that is subjective. It is very well made, and in good shape as you can see in the pics. No damage whatsoever. Welds look great. Been on the car since 2/15/09, but hasn't been driven in the winter. It came off as easily as it went on. When I put it on, I did use a few shims on the rear side mounts to align it properly so that the connecting pipes do not contact the subframe. If I were to buy another E9X M3 (to be stripped for track use) in the future, I would go for this exhaust again considering the weight savings and the noise limits on some tracks. Obviously, there is some oxidation, so it's not shiny new. I cleaned it with WD-40 (believe it or not that is what Akropovic recommends) and got the dirt off. Front sections are oxidized a bit more. Out of curiosity, I took 150 grit sandpaper and applied it with my hand to a small section to see what happens and then polished it with 200 grit. It got rid of the thin layer of oxidation, and the shine was back (see the small section in the very last pic), but I didn't see the point of doing the entire thing. I believe list is around $4200. You can probably pick up a new one for ~$3700. Mine is $2300 + actual shipping costs although I would prefer local pick up around Boston. http://www.vorsteiner.com/bmw/3Serie...I-Exhaust.aspx

Can you swap tips or otherwise adjust to fit an E90?
Lucid, sorry to hear of the sale but best of luck with the M coupe. Hope you'll still hang around.

I'm checking out Z4 forum more. I'll probably step aside as a mod on m3post though as I won't be following this forum that closely. I'll post a M3 vs M coupe thread when I get a chance to push the M coupe around a bit. Too cold here now. So far it's great.

They call it adjustable. But you can't really tuck it in enough on the sedan. If you search for my name you can find some pics. Tips stick out way too much on the sedan even if you try to tuck it in.

I just looked up your pics. I agree that the tips stick out too much on the sedan. Not sure why they didn't fix that or why they are advertising that it fits the E90 as it clearly doesn't based on your pics. Sounds like this is meant to be picked up by a coupe owner then; it looked great on the Jerez E92...

Bump for a nice exhaust....I am anxiously awaiting your write up of the M3 vs M coupe as I drove one for the first time the other time and have been really thinking about it.

You sure you're happy with the AA exhaust there? I'm taking the E30 M3 to the grave unless I put it into a wall first. Maybe both will happen at the same time! |
