Hi,
Thanks for the info. It seems to me like a lot of the changes to the sedan could potentially be software updates.....like the iPod voice command interface.....any idea if they would be able to be updated via a firmware flash or something? Also, I just want to verify that there will be no significant performance changes.....It seems like there wont be. Asheesh |

,no. Plus, it's not clear yet if this would also apply to the E90 M3. |

I dont see how the 2011s will be out in March when 2010 just started in October, my SA says BMW is not making any changes on the vehicle but supposedly they will changing to a 6-cy twin-turbo vs. V8. I'm guessing in 2012-2013.

Well, I'm currently deployed to OIF and planned on dropping my deposit for a 2010 M3 in April of 2010. My contact at the dealership at my homestation (outside of Ansbach, Germany) just e-mailed me and told me the 2010 model will be unavailable at that time, and if I want to order a 2010 model I need to put down the deposit right now (which I am not ready to do yet).
This is in Germany so I'm certain it is different from the States, but just wanted to add my 2 cents...

Well either the 2011s are available in Germany earlier than the US or this guy just wants you to put a deposit down now so that's what he is telling you..

Either way, I'm not ready to commit right now. I'm just going to wait until the time I planned. Since it might cost a bit more, maybe I'll be a few grand short. Through military sales with the discounts, if I saved every penny from my deployment I'd be spot on with what I requested (like, exactly). If I am a few grand short it won't matter much to me, I'll be happy either way

No, they're not. Only difference is, that it only takes a week after the production is finished to get your car delivered here. So really maybe couple/few weeks before you guys in States get them.

My order confirmation says 2011 on it twice,
"You have ordered a BMW M3 Convertible – 2011 model year. We are currently waiting for further details from the factory with regards to your order. You car is due to be built in Week 12 - March 2010 as a 2011 model car." |

I was on the phone with my dealer's Sales Manager yesterday and he was trying to get me a January build for my M3 Sedan....... He told me that if a January build was not possible then I would get a February build guaranteed.
Today he called me and left a message which and said: "Jamie, Jack here! I just spoke with distribution and I have some news and it is both good and bad. Give me a call when you get a chance." When I spoke to him he told me that I could not have a January build because there were no spots left, and I couldn't have a February build because there are no M3's being built in February. He basically told me that I am going to be getting a car built in March and it will be a MY2011. He said he was told that the Coupe and Convertible were getting some minor styling changes from March production. There will be no changes to the Sedan as far as styling goes however there may be some minor changes to available options and equipment. When I questioned Jack regarding the Comp Package he did not have any info on it for Coupe, Convertible, or Sedan however he would give me a call as soon as the MY2011 ordering guide came. Hope this helps!

I spoke to dealer in Texas and i was told unofficially that MY2011 was expected in Q1 of 2010 (so March sounds right). It would have a significantly different engine... he implied inline 6 with twin turbo. The change in engine would significantly, lighten the car and also drive overall more horse power. Something like 450hp... i'm torn between trading my e46 03 M3 in for a CPO 09' M3 Vert or waiting for new MY11 M3.
