What is this wire and connector for?

Hello,

I was cleaning the engine bay and noticed this wire and connector dangling loosely.

I was hoping I can lean on the forum experts to help identify what it is for and what it should be connected to?

The wire/connector is located close to the driver side hood strut and is coming out of a wiring loom identified in the second pic (circles in red).

Car: 2010 e90 m3, DCT with EDC.

Thanks in advance!

You should have an hood closed switch right there where the microfilter stays. This should be connected to the wire.

Hard to see if yours is missing, but it's probably the hood sensor. It connects to the HVAC filters. Post a pic that is a little further away.

Thanks KingofKingz and roastbeef.

This is exactly what it is.

The other end of this connector is hidden under a cover so it very obvious.

The previous owner must have disconnected it...will try to reconnect after work.

Love this forum.

Stay safe all.
