Why not just buy an entire x-pipe rather than piece something together?

For me, I wanted to get the Car Shop Glow x-pipe. They don't sell a complete x-pipe at the moment. I choose Car Shop Glow because I wanted have something different then the usual brands. Car Shop Glow is known in Japan but not so much here in the States. I got the test pipes for a great deal in the local forums here.

Common man... really? thats not an exhaust video...
start up/idle/rev/take off then fly by..
at the least revving and in car sound..
I am very curious to see how it sounds.. from the video it sounds super quiet.

I realize this is super old but I'm looking for an exhaust setup and stumbled on this thread after seeing this video with a Megan axel back + ACM test pipes and to me it sounds fantastic esp for the price.

Anyone looking for a good vid of the Megan with ACM pipes should check this one out :thump:

I'm coming from the 4 pipe perforated mod which I thought droned but this is on a completely different level of drone

Has anyone successfully reduced drone on this system by adding resonators ?
I think I read somewhere that the tone changes when you do a tune ?
secondaries dont do much to reduce drone, you need resonators.

Yeah I have a megan and test pipes as well, it does drone a bit from 1800-2200 rpm but its not that bad. Besides just select a different gear so you dont cruze around in that RPM range and your good.

I talked to my exhaust guy and he said adding some resonators near the mufflers could take care of it but it would require some trial and error to get the size and tube length right. It doenst bother me enough to put forth the effort or money. I saw someone do it with a dinan cat back I think. Just looks like an other pipe coming off before the muffler and going to a dead end resonator.

Im trying to understand the test pipes. Is the install just cutting out the primary cats and then welding in the test pipes and everything else stays the same?

Also for emissions testing is it possible to remove just the secondary cats instead of the primaries without a tune to suppress the CEL? If so how big of a difference in sound and power is there between the two options?

Thanks!

I had the Megan axle back and ACM test pipes with no drone. I loved that setup.
