Question for valved exhausts
I've been doing research everywhere but can't find any threads or info to back this up.
I heard that if you purchase an Armytrix, ipe, (etc) valved exhaust, then you must also chip the engine. Can anyone confirm whether this is true or not? Why would you need to chip the engine for an exhaust? Don't want to purchase an exhaust + chip which would waive the warranty. Thanks- |

There are two types of valved exhausts: fully electric ones and vacuum operated ones.
The first definitely does not need a tune of any kind. I don't see why the second would either, although then you're tapping into the car's vacuum lines |

They don't need a tune per se. But most full valvetronic exhausts remove the cats, and that will throw a CEL without a tune. Maybe that's why that comment was made.

I have armytrix exhaust on mine. It comes with a module that will delete the CEL when it comes on.( your CEL will come on for a quick second, then it will disappear). The down side of that is, if u have any other codes, they will be deleted as well. No aftermarket tune/chip is needed.
Armytrix system use vacuum to operate the flaps. You will need to use your brake vacuum as the source. Contact Sean at Vivid Racing. He has good pricing on them. U can get just buy axle back armytrix and Retain ur stock X pipes if you don't want to deal with the lights. But tune will definitely help to bring the most of out the bolt ons. |

Thank you everyone for the answers/help. Definitely insightful and helpful. One of my biggest concerns is that getting this exhaust will somehow waive the warranty and want to make sure that it doesn't.
Sounds like it will not, even with a CEL delete. Cheers |
