I knew about the Z4 GT3 and GTE cars, but I had no idea of the other ones. Great thread!

Dane Cameron won the Tudor United Sports Car Driver's Championship in the GTD class last year with the Z4 GTE, so that's something else to be proud of.

People who never drove E9x M3s on the track will NEVER understand how great the S65 engine is.
The E9x M3 will probably go down as one of the best M3s ever made. Only time will tell.

Saw that! 10k !
Wow.
So... Is it reasonable to assume BMW is still making these S65 engines for racing purposes, and ehh, warranty?

The S65 is simply the greatest engine the M-GmbH has ever develped. I think its time to give this engine an worthy last comeback as long as the DTM uses the V8s.

Whats about an F80 M3 with an 440hp S65 named M3 Edition "40years 3er series" to celebrate two great BMW Jubilees in one car 40years 3er series and 60years BMW V8 !?

I'm biased but I feel that the s85 was the greatest from M! But they're based off the same design so I guess they're the same

I didn't know the Judd, Oreca, or Lotus used a S65 variation, cool stuff. I remember a few years back when visiting the Turner Motorsports garage at NJMP Will Turner said they still use the S62 engine in their cars. Was really surprised they still used it but he said, "if it ain't broke don't fix it" lol.

Wow. That in-car video reminds me of the (bad) old days when IMSA would run races with GTP, GTO, and GTU cars on track at the same time. Hugely different performance envelopes.

BMW literally stuck race car engines in sedans for the public to enjoy. The S65 is as close as it gets to being the "perfect engine" and what better form of flattery than it to be used in so many different racing applications. Bravo!
