I assume the sedan has a similar amount of space.

And to address the dirt/grease concerns I would just throw a tarp underneath the bike.

I am just not a fan of roof racks. That is why I want to chuck a bike back there.
Make sure you find E90 with either cold weather package or fold down seats as it's not a standard feature in E90. It is standard in E92, which I think it's stupid that its not in E90. A buddy picked up used E90 and didn't realize it until it was too late.

Like you said...remove the front wheel to gain some space

Are you guys absolutely sure? I first removed the driver's side front wheel and the bike is still sticking out the trunk. then I removed the passenger's side front wheel and the bike still doesn't fit.

What am I doing wrong?

Yep. Mine too. Found out all to late my back seat does not fold down. Not cool!

Roof rack every time I go. BMW cross bars and then the bike racks from the old VW (barracuda). Super deal, but makes a lot of wind noise at 120mph.

I didn't used racks. I took both wheels off and pedals off. It was snug, but the Cinelli fit nicely inside the 'Vette.
