DIY ///M Light Weight Hood Flag

So, I decided to go to BimmerStock this coming sunday, and wanted to do something rather "cool" or special. With such a short time crunch, what can I do?

So i decided to make my own Hood flag, and this executive decision was made while daydreaming on the train this morning.

I honestly do wish that I have gotten AW or MW when it comes to hood flags...
So maybe I should do this in a silver/darksilver/silver thing.

anyways, got home around 9:30pm from work and took some hood measurements....

As an architectural designer, of course I have to use CAD to draft up what I need to plot and cut...
and of course, excuse my crappy old AutoCAD07, I almost forgot how to use this old one when I use 2012 at work!

of course, there will be some 'field' adjustments, the right side 3 diamonds will have to be adjusted once the vinyl is on the car...

until tomorrow, when I plot, we will see how this looks.

minor update: Plotted out two sheets, gonna go home and layout the "layout" on the car, see if the flag is too big, if so, gotta scale it down. Can't wait!

Day 2

sigh, late work night again, as always. (for the young on this forum deciding to go into architecture, don't do it)

anyways, trimmed out my tempate! fits great! minor fender side adjustment, removing 2 diamonds and extending one last one wider!

now, the color selection. I'm going to be using this "frosted" vinyl, then metallic silver, then frosted again, since the M colors won't look well on JzB. I still want somewhat of a contrast, so i'll shoot for that.

The flag will be cut and applied in 6 sections. hood side frosted/silver/frosted and fender side frosted/silver/frosted. will take pics of the piece once it's done.

I also got another vinyl/brilliant idea. It may become tacky, so I'll have to do a test before i show you guys.

well stay tight! will take more progress photos.

so yeah, needed a number system and pieces system to assemble the whole thang together. whole thanggg yoooo!

anyways, side note on a project for my C55 I just finished. Refinished my Brabus Shift knob. How? took out all the old alcantara suede, replaced it with carbon fiber fabric, re-wired/took off the crappy brabus LED and replaced it with a "nichia" LED (high output, expensive LED chip!)

and DONE.

for those who are interested, some background, i've been working with vinyl and custom/random stuff for my cars...

my matte c55..which is the first matte c55, with custom painted and treated bi-xenons..

1. Crimson Red trims on my C320 Coupe...

2. Glossed Black VINYL lip with red TA ring..

4. carbon fiber room rails...

5. my infamous project, Renntech carbon airbox with custom carbon/red front cover done by me.

OKAY enough me, back to flag cutting!

Sorry, The flag was on since Friday night, but had to clean the car and detail for Today's Bimmerstock 2011 Car show, so I had no time to update.

but here it is.

Total "actual" time spent on the measurement, design, and execution of the flag. 1.5 hours.

upload more pics later! i'm beat!

Looks good, but the upper left (viewing photo) looks to be out of place IMO. There are no other blocks suspended like that.

The You Mad sheet was a continuous "you mad" thing I had from the last show, Eurofest.

I'm gonna be doing some other stuff for Smithtown BMW show next month! come by, and say hi! I will be at the Motorcepts booth, again.

I was the SSII e90 parked next to the AW e90(also known as project white lightning) in the cross street where the reventon and mean green was

I stopped but didn't see anyone around. where is the show next month?

ohh I was probably passed outbu the tent lol, you have the painted SSII lip?
I think next one is at Smithtown BMW if it's an actual show, we are not 100% sure if we are going yet

nah my car has splitters and oem 18"s. on the back of the car next to the fin it says 1sikbmr
