Cars & Coffee has been going on in Irvine for a handful of years, but it started in Newport Coast at the Starbucks opposite Crystal Cove. The first time I went was in 2004 or so. I'm fairly certain this was the original Cars & Coffee. It started as an impromptu gathering of local residents who would get their Saturday morning coffee and show off their exotics. It quickly grew into a spectacle and the property management of the center where the "show" took place eventually kicked them out. They found a home in the Ford/Mazda parking lot near the Spectrum in Irvine, and other Cars & Coffee events and clones started springing up all over the country.
