Arrow Moment of Truth - Gintani / Powerchip Dyno Results

Hello guys,

I finally managed to pull off getting all the following performance mods installed:
  • Gintani rear exhaust
  • Gintani catless x-pipe
  • AA pulley
  • BMC air filter
  • RPI scoops
  • Powerchip's custom dyno tune
I know there has been a lot of heated debate on topics such as "what makes how much power?", and "how did it make that much power?"

So I went ahead and planned to get BEFORE & AFTER Dyno's, since I knew it would be GREATLY beneficial to many, many forum members.

This is my very first experience on getting dyno's, so please excuse my 'newbie-ness'.

I have put forth a good amount of effort on doing the best I can.

My M3 performed a total of 3 dynos. Every single one of them took place on the same EXACT MUSTANG DYNO, located @ the Autoscope location in Dallas, TX.

Each of the 3 dyno runs included 3 pulls each.

Baseline Dyno:

The first dyno was without ANY performance mods (not EVEN the BMC air filter). It took place on the 11th of November. The first dyno's HIGHEST #'s are

308.357 whp & 240.462 wtq

Bolt-On Modifications:

The 2nd dyno was done after ALL my performance mods were installed, and WITHOUT the Powerchip dyno tune. It took place on the 13th of November. The 2nd dyno's HIGHEST #'s are:

358.887 whp & 273.003 wtq

Bolt-On Modifications + Power Chip Custom Tune:

The 3rd and final dyno was after ALL mods were installed, INCLUDING the Powerchip dyno tune. It took place on the 16th of November. The 3rd dyno's HIGHEST #'s are:

376.313 whp & 276.657 wtq

That third dyno chart really highlights exactly why the Powerchip tune is such a must. Yeah, it gave you a good bump in power, but even more impressive is how flat and smooth your curves are afterward. The smoothness of the power delivery post-tune is absolutely amazing. I witnessed how much time Jeremy put into getting your tune just right, and it looks like it definitely paid off.

Your car is a freakin' scary beast, Nawaaz. Enjoy it and stay safe!

Guessing the dynos were done on different days?
Yes.

1st was on the 11th of November.

2nd was on the 13th of November.

3rd was on the 16th of November.

I tried my best to get 'em all in as close together as possible. I know it would've been best if I could've done them all on the same day, but that would be very difficult on me. Sorry.

Nice, Nawaaz! Your original dyno numbers seem awfully low, though. I got 340HP and 250TQ with no mods. Granted, it was a Dynojet, but my numbers with the X-pipe are more in line with what you got with your mods but before the tune.

How many miles were on the car when you had it tested?

The Powerchip tune really smoothed out the dip between 6-7k. I will probably get that at some point. Have fun with the car.

That's a very conservative dyno. He would hit 400whp and 300wtq on a dynojet.

That's pretty crazy, gaining 70rwhp with bolt-ons on a naturally aspirated car that's already wound pretty tight from the factory.

Great numbers. I am very surprised you gained that much Hp actually with bolt ons and a tune.

Those numbers are about right for a mustang dyno. My stock car dyno'd at 318.

Thanks Nawazz for this work. This definitely helped my decision. I've always thought an increase in 50 bhp/tq and 100 lbs weight loss would make this car perfect. This looks absolutely obtaining now.

This is really all the power I'm looking for.

Does the car exhibit the low RPM dip that seem to plague members running full exhaust with hi-flo cats or no cats?

If so, is it noticeable?

Does the car feel and drive like stock across the entire RPM range but with more more throughout? Would love to get your thoughts on how the car drives now.

Nawaaz - the results from the Mustang dyno are impressive.

If my math is correct, you're making ~500 HP at the crank. (308/412 * 376 = 502) Where 308=first pull, 412=stock, 376=final pull.

Numbers aside, this car is very fast and very loud. The car pulls like crazy in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. My M3 sounds like my girlfriend's Honda Fit compared to this beast.
