we will see how the M does.... This is always a good start for a new car because whatever will break on the car... WILL break.. so it shows its flaws sooner... obviously you wont finish well in the race tho....

I'm not sure how to read this because some faster times are ranked below slower ones (e.g. Mueller/Milner's time is faster than the 17th and 18th ranked cars), but it looks like one car qualified 6th for the GT2 class, while the other car qualified 8th.
In any case, seems like a pretty good showing for the team's first race qualifying!

I'm with footie - the R10 was a much prettier car. That being said, I'm curious to see how the R15 runs. Just as a PSA - Truth in 24 (truthin24.com) airs tonight on ESPN before Sebring starts. It covers Audi's '08 Le Mans effort, and is a great watch (just finished watching it in fact). Set your Tivos!

Yeah, Sebring beats the holly hell out of cars. It will be interesting to see who can hold up.

Side note: Being as they have car 90 and 92, they should made the 90 car an E90, and keep the 92 car as an E92. That would be pimp.

looks like two plenums straight out of the kidneys. Not the big squarish ones there are two smaller tubes below those going to the motor

The setup is much different than any street car the motor is pushed way back and if its anything like the 6cyl e46 GTR the radiator and other things use the ducting you see in there to cool down

This sure is different. They are facilitating the air flow for the radiator through those large ducts.

Like you say, it seems like the two lines going to the intake plenum are it for the intake, which means they have eliminated the stock intake element in the bumper. I bet the two small openings down low to the sides in the ALMS bumper are for brake cooling then.

And, I can't see any evidence of a third intake path such as the one on the stock hood. The function of that opening has been an item of discussion, and I've been meaning to take some airflow measurements there for the longest time...

Do you know why they altered the initial ALMS splitter design? That had different aero elements on the sides to generate downforce. Are there any rules about how much downforce ALMS cars can generate? Did they have to reduce the downforce the original bumper would yield?

The Corvette hands down dominates the ALMS GT1 class and 2009 is the first year they are running in the GT2 class. As much as I have tons of hope for the M3, I'm freakin out about the vette dominating GT2 as well.

The number of intake air restrictors and diameters are specified below. M3 has a 4000 cc displacement and 1150 kg weight (i think), so it would have 2 restrictors of 31.1 mm in diameter.
