Best M3 ever made, just the right mix of old and new. Hydraulic steering, NA high revving V8, sense of being a connected and special car. Platform has so much potential if you want to take it further. I will 100pc own another one some day.

I'm glad I see this posts. I will occasionally have a weird desire to sell my car and then think twice.

I'm one of the very few who didn't enjoy my E90; it drove me towards Lexus. Two ISF's and a RCF later and I was back In an F80 M.
Can't deny this platform will always be a classic but I disagree with the "best M3" sentiment. |

And probably the cleanest design, especially the E92 Not as ricey as the newer models And better looking than the E36 and E46 Best m3 is a difficult phrase The m3 has changed so much, that the answer is more about what You Like than which one is the best I'd put this second only to the e30 M3

Interesting discussion. Had a couple of M's ☺️(no e30).
Reflecting back, wish I had kept my e90 for sure, something very pure about the car and the DCT was ridiculous in speed and feel…instantaneous. The Dinan exhaust was great. Red line would sing praises…also loved silver stone. I'll get another hence my tag name on this site from 12yrs ago which was my personalized license plate. In a G80 xDrive now the slushbox is exactly that. On very hard acceleration in my mind I count the seconds between 1&2 all the way up…albeit love the car and breakneck speeds w mods. RIP

I hardly hear talk of people messing with the valve train of an s65. Really only the rod bearings and valve covers get much publicity among people I hang out with. Oil filter housing gaskets don't count because they seem to be a thing across all generations. 😂 |

Maybe I wasn't clear; the E9X is a beautiful car but I received a lemon from day 1. Soured my taste of BMW which drove me towards Lexus (temporarily). I found my E46 M3 was more raw than the E90, and felt the F80 torque, power delivery and overall chassis far superior to the E90. I just found it to be a good car, not a great car. |
