Anyone else who just can't get rid of their M3?
So I got my e92 brand new in 2013, spec'd the way I want, it's perfect for me. Done some track days, some Autox and some other events too, thing is a beast and so much fun. But I always toy with the idea to get something else, but every time I get behind the wheel of my e92 all those thoughts just disappear.
I've driven the new M's, I'm not a purist or anything but, the new cars just don't do it for me, something feels "off" about them. They're super fast and still fun cars but just not for me. And I've driven other cars that were an absolute blast but I can't seem to let go of the e92. So the real question is, Does anyone else have trouble letting go of their e9x M3, and for those who did get rid of their car, Do you have any regrets? What did you end up getting? Full disclosure, I have other cars, and I don't daily my e92, only have 51,xxx on the clock currently

E9x M3's are starting to get affordable to service. Parts are readily available at FCPEURO and many places.
Reminds me of my E46 days.

Longest car I've owned and I don't see myself looking elsewhere anytime soon. Such an incredible car, especially at the price points these days and the punch way, way, way above their class.

They’re quite special and a killer value these days. Anything else that would interest me is 3X the price, more to maintain, and less practical. That’s not happening anytime soon, so I happily expect to keep this one for a while, and am building/maintaining it accordingly.

Wouldn't sell it unless I had money for the next big upgrade... 2018+ GT3.
Even then I might have trouble selling this car, super practical and suitable for a daily driver. Haven't had any issues, and the mods keep piling on.

I honestly don't know what else I'd want to buy at even 2x the price. Still so much car for the money. And not buying a new, more expensive car enables funds for more upgrades. Win-win situation.

I rack my brain occasionally to think of what cars I might eventually upgrade to, and can't think of anything short of a Porsche GT car. MAYBE a C8 Vette once they work out the transmission problems? Idk. There's just nothing out there within miles cost-wise that delivers such a well balanced package as the E9X.
If anything, I'd probably just look for another E90, 2011 comp package, 6MT slick top with low miles, then pick up something less rare as a daily. |

I'm at the same boat here. I don't think I'll ever sell my E92. If anything, I'll find another beater car so that I can keep my M3 well under 50k miles (currently at 41k miles).
I do want another Euro car, the 2013 C63 the last of it's kind but its hard to find the one I want. |

Had professional photographer take all the pictures and was approved on BAT but just could not pull the trigger and lost it. It’s a keeper for sure and costing very little to keep in the garage and driver a few times a week. Just can’t part with it.

991 GT3 - it's the only car I could envision selling the E9X M3 for.

Misread this title as you had trouble selling.
Now as to the actual intent of the post, I couldn’t part ways with my e90. It checks every box. I can fit my family in it, it’s a special car, I can take kids to school one day and track or autox another. And that v8, MMM. |

Just had some more preventative work done on mine so I can keep it longer. I also can't think of anything else I'd like to replace it with. This is my realistic dream car and I still can't believe I own one. Hopefully I can keep it for a long long time.

I love my M, but would probably sell to get into a Porsche turbo S or an Audi R8 5.2.

Great thread.
I'm at the opposite end of the ownership cycle. Had a pro-touring built 2015 Mustang GT PP2, then a 2016 F80. Neither were special enough to withstand my short ownership turnover (friends all say I have a problem). Just found exactly why I want- a low mileage 2011 E92 ZCP, 6MT, single hump and I couldn't be happier. Much better fit for my automotive taste and worth a spot in our garage for many sunny drives in the PNW.

Since gotten my first e92, the only thought I have is either getting one more something like 2013 ZCP manual with lower millage, or something like 718 GT4 if I was to get a new car. Somehow I just can't live with the new design (huge nose) and fake sounds.

Intriguing question that has been on my mind for months. My M3 now has 94k miles and has been totally trouble free. I have decided to invest in a bunch of preventative maintenance and keep it for another cycle. Unless you want to go with a P car (been there, done that) I came to the conclusion the best replacement for the e92 M3 would be another e92 M3 or possibly a e46 comp package M3 coupe.

Would be the last car out of the 4 I currently have I'd sell. Here are a few reasons:
- I've owned this car almost 8 years. It's the first car I've really had a chance to mod, and it's a car I dreamed of owning during college. This particular car and I just have a lot of history, I don't want to sell it. I even drove my little brother from his wedding in it. - Mine is a rare combo I'd never be able to find again. Sparkling Graphite, Bamboo Beige, CF roof and 6MT. If I have to pull the trigger on another E9x M3, it'd be Melbourne Red - I know this car has been super well maintained by me. Oil changes early, usually because of time rather than miles. Interior is holding up beautifully - A car I'd be interested in owning would be an M2C or a Porsche 981 Spyder. Significantly more expensive than what my E92 M3 is worth, not sure it's proportionally more fun - BMW will never build an engine like the S65 again, period. I've always said it, you can drop this engine into something far more expensive and it'll feel right at home. - It still looks so menacing to this day IMO. I gave mine a wash and still am surprised the car came out 12 years ago. I don't daily mine, but I still think it's such an event to drive this car after all these years. I've had the privilege to drive cars I cannot afford (Porsche GT4, Ferrari F340, all the brand new M's ect ect), but I'll still never forget the first time I was able to drive an E92 M3, which was at the Performance Center during an event: ![]() I've never felt an urge to having to own a particular car like I did that day. Long live the E9x M3.

No replacement. I now have two E92 M3s (one AW 6MT, one Jet Black DCT) and a Euro 3.0 E36 M3 (yes, equivalent to DTM spec engine back in the 90s).
P cars drive very differently being MR/RR layout, I am not a huge fan of it yet.

It is amazing the number of guys on this forum that sell their E9x, try and replace it with "something better", and eventually end up returning to the E9x platform.
Based on that information/trend, I will learn from my fellow forum members and for the foreseeable future completely avoid the "selling the E90 for something better" cycle ![]() Quote:
