Smile SSR Performance S65 Rod bearing repair | Starting at $1500 parts & labor!! (/w pics)

Calling all E9X M3's!!

Whether you have a low or high mileage E9X M3, the S65 engine has been known to have rod bearing issues at some point in its lifespan especially if your car is supercharged or tracked often. Don't wait until your engine fails because it will cost thousands more to repair.

Please do not hesitate to contact us now!

1 DAY TURNAROUND

(800) 438-2808 or info@SSR-Performance.com

We are more than happy to answer ANY questions that you may have regarding this issue. We have a highly experienced ASE certified staff with over 10 years of master tech credentials and experience ready to get started on your M3 ASAP!

The following photos are all from an E92 M3 with only 52,XXX miles. This customer performed our rod bearing service as preventative maintenance upon the delivery of his newly purchased pre-owned M3. He was very wise to do so!

Although the customer claimed that the car is very quiet and sounds normal he decided to err on the side of caution. Upon initial diagnosis of the vehicle we noticed slight knock and immediately informed the customer. We helped him take note of the sound so that he would be able to compare the difference before and after the service. As you can see his bearings were showing obvious signs of scoring. Needless to say, when he came to pick up the vehicle, he was extremely happy and instantly noticed the difference in engine sound as the car started! If this customer had held off on the service another ~20,000 miles or so, as most people would (around 70,000 miles) to perform the service, there may have been significantly more damage! The vehicle is now 100% set to supercharge and / or track to his heart's desire!

Complete rod bearing repair starting at $1500 (parts and labor)!
Same day service! No need to leave your car here for days

What does the $1250 include? Is that labor only or includes the rod bearings? If so what kind.

Also what is your experience with replacing rod bearings? Have you done dozens, techs trained by Bmw etc?

Sorry for all the questions just curious since haven't heard of your shop yet

Thanks

$1250 includes OEM non-treated rod bearings, rod bolts, oil pan gasket and all required bolts. Price does not include oil filter or motor oil.

Reason why we have set this price to not include fluids is because some customers prefer different oil brands, oil viscosity, and oil filters.

We highly recommend all customers to upgrade to WPC treated bearings along with ARP connecting rod bolts.

We have done dozens of rod bearings and have even replaced crankshafts.

Customers who do not that care of this issue before its to late, usually has to replace their crankshaft. This task is extremely time consuming at 31 hours of labor and $2700 in parts.

Our techs are ASE Master technicians and have over 10 years of training.

I understand the questions and concerns. Although we stand by our work and will warranty any work performed by us

Please PM me or e-mail me if you have any more questions!

Thank you for your response. This is definitely on my radar. Say we dont want to use the OEM WPC non treated rod bearings that this comes with the $1250 price and want to use something like BE bearings. What is the additional cost?

Thanks

Confused as to the WPC non treated bearings comment, since WPC is a treatment, .. did you mean oem bearing without WPC treatment?

So what would be the cost for WPC treated bearings?
with all parts and labor installed?

Oops, sorry about that. I had just got off work and responded while I was eating dinner

You are correct, OEM non treat or WPC treated.

Purchasing a m3 very soon, do you guys have any comment on option 3 A vs B?
I am glad there are more than one options, but what is the "better" one in your opinion?

Hey!

It really comes down to preference at that point, which is exactly why we offer both options.

The difference between the two options is BE Bearings vs WPC treated OEM Bearings.

BE Bearings are machined at different tolerances and are supposed to fix the issues of the OEM Bearings that wear out due to what BE claims to be incorrect tolerances. However, they are not WPC treated.

The WPC OEM Bearings are much stronger but are still the exact original dimensional specs that would be coming out of your car currently. However, due to the WPC treatment, these bearings are meant to last a lot longer than non treated OEM!

Let us know if that answers your questions!
