Manual trans guy myself- hardcore.
That said, after spending a day driving an M4 in anger at the Performance Center, for a track car, the DCT is more rewarding. Charging toward a hard left hander, pulling in 4th gear (maybe 115mph), going to the third cone before slamming on the ceramic brakes, and then establishing just the right entry line- it is pretty nice to just flip that paddle twice and exit in second gear, right on the power curve.
Can't believe is just said that.........

Should further tighten up the shifting and give a better feel. I like the factory throw so I opted for the 7% reduction kit (they also make a 20% reduction kit).

I will post my thoughts after the install.

cool.

AutoSolutions Shift Kit

WOW!

THE AUTOSOLUTIONS SHIFT KIT.

Simply perfect. The second I grabbed my shifter with the newly installed AutoSolutions shift kit, I could tell the difference.

NOTCHINESS ELIMINATED! Seriously!

Solid. Accurate. Rifle-bolt feel.

WATCH:

If you want the absolute best shifting in your BMW, I cannot recommend this shifter enough.

I got the stock-like 7% shift throw reduction. A 20% shorter shift kit is available too. The website doesn't say they make E9X shifters, but they do. $414 and well worth it.

TOP POST UPDATED WITH FULL INFO.

I did that on my e46, it was an improvement. I'm a converted DCT guy on the e92, it's so good! I feel it takes the car on another level.

I had it installed by my BMW specialist. It looks like it takes some work. There's a lot of stuff in the way.

Make sure you replace any bushings while you have all of it apart.

Yea been wanting to do this for awhile, just looks like a pain in ass. Did replace my trans mounts finally with 80A poly, made shifting much smoother but... as the oem trans mounts where the last rubber in my drive train and I have solid CF drive shaft with no rubber guibo the added vibration between 2500-3k was pretty freaking harsh. So back to oem trans mount, though fresh ones.

Deff got to get this in the furture though.

Looks good. And good write up.. No need to discuss DCT or 6MT. If you wanna play games get an xbox. I won't look at the 0-60 since im not a dragger. Heel&Toe all the time like an obsession...

I used to have uuc short shifter on my e30 325is and loved it.

But my plan is to get the CAE ultra-shifter. That's like world changing.

I actually diy'd the auto solutions kit about a week ago. Went the the 7% reduction kit and it's absolutely incredible. Worth every single penny! But installing it was the biggest PITA. How your supposed to be able to reach in and do everything while the car is still together is beyond me. But thankfully, I was already pulling the trans for a new clutch. So I managed to knock it out in about 20 min. As opposed to the hours of cursing and scratched hands I can only imagine it would've taken me.

I had an AS kit in my E46 and it's definitely a great piece of kit. I wonder how involving the DIY is, on my E90 328i The SSK can be installed from the top, and you only need to get under the car to remove the circlip.

Does anyone know exactly what's involved in doing it on the M3?

Does the AS kit make the 3-2 downshift any smoother? It's kind of a disaster on my car (independent of the need to rev the hell out of it to match things up). But maybe that's just me.

Thanks for the detailed information. I plan to do this soon. Autosolutions has the ability to manufacture the kit at different shifter heights. With the M5 shift knob lowering the shifting height would you prefer an autosolutions kit with a longer shifter height to get back the the oe height with the M5 knob or do you prefer it being lower? I'm worried about occasionally hitting the idrive controller.

Got the Autosolutions kit fitted to my E92 M3 today.

All I can say is wow - it is amazing! I had the UUC kit fitted and it's way, way better than that, let alone the stock shifter. We are not prone to exaggeration over here in the UK so you can believe me when I say it's great ;-)

Ronald's customer service is also fantastic. He dropped everything to get the shifter done and shipped over before his vacation.

If you don't mind me asking what did it cost to have this installed?
