For comparison and discussion, here's what other shops outside of the area are offering:

AutoTalent in SoCal:

"Hello Bimmerpost members,

We are currently running an installed price of $2500 for all local members in the SoCal area for the BE Bearings + ARP Rod bolt combo. We are the distributor for BE and have these bearings in stock. Please feel free to PM or email Golan@AutoTalent.com to make an appointment or for more info!"

EAS in SoCal:

"Complete inspection/service is $2395, which includes the following:

Services Performed
- Inspect/Replace Rod Bearings
- Install Upgraded Connecting Rod Bolts
- Inspect Rod Journals
- Inspect Oil Pump nuts
- Inspect Clean/Flush Oil Pan for debris
- Collect Oil Sample for Analysis
- Autologic QuickReport (determines required updates & scheduled maintenance)
- One-on-One inspection report

Items included
- WPC Treated Rod Bearings
- ARP Connecting Rod Bolts
- OEM BMW Oil Pan Gasket
- Oil Change & Filter Change
- Blackstone Oil Report"

ACM on the other side of the country; New Jersey:
"Whats Included with the in house installation- $2,399

A full OEM 10W60 oil change, WPC treated OEM bearings to GTS specifications, ARP hardened rod bolts, the necessary oem gaskets and hardware for oil pan, oil pick up and return lines, and lastly a wheel alignment."

Member in Florida; PM'd him about his recent RB swap of WPC RB and ARP 2000 bolts. He said it was $1700.

So... I bit the bullet and drove my car down to LA to Golan at AutoTalent.

His shop is clean, doesn't upsale anything, keeps you up to date with progress, courteous and professional. This was seriously the best repair experience ever.

There is one problem though, his shop has Porsches, Lambos and Ferraris, so it'll make you want one badly.

I'm also interested. My car only has about 40k on it. E90 2008. But am worried about it.

My understanding is these can fail any time.

I bought WPC treated bearings, ARP bolts, gasket from EAS for $1000
Took it to Trackspec Auto in Fremont last week for $1200 labor + $240 oil change kit

Tried contacting Performance Technic for over a month, but they never got back to me with pricing or an appointment.

Any other good shops in norcal or is it just performance technics? Are most people driving to socal to get this done? Just picked up an e90 and want to get bearings in but afraid to risk driving all the way to LA...

Fortunately we are busy since moving to Fremont, we've performed 7 rod bearing replacements just since the New Year...I'm sorry if we missed getting back to you.

Our shop is BMW only and has been for 9 years, our techs have the experience and factory training. I'd be happy to help anyone interested in the Bay Area for this service. We offer WPC or BE and it is by appointment only. We can match the EAS and AutoTalent pricing for locals here in the Bay Area.

Hope that helps!

Order bearings from SYT_Shadow, misc oil/o-rings, gaskets, etc from ECS, and have member Playskool1 (in Union City) do the work. He wrapped up mine last night and my total for all parts and labor (other than alignment) was ~1800. Ray is easy to work with and does great work. He did a lot on my E46M over the years as well.
