How to get Hood Vents off without breaking?

How to get Hood Vents off without breaking?

I do not mean the actual hood vent but the car color matching vent piece.

I've used a screwdriver on my E92M before, but I wrapped the tip with electrical tape.

OP, the installation is simple.
Tools needed:
  • wedge/flat trim piece removal (or flat head screw driver if not available)

Removal of existing:
  • Open hood
  • Locate underside of vent (driver/passenger)
  • By applying a gentle, downward pulling force to the leading "edge" of the rubber seal, remove the rubber seal
  • Locate the trim piece locking tabs, these will be clearly visible around the perimeter of the trim piece, note that the edge nearest the windshield will not have a locking tab, rather a slot and will not be released until the final step (a flashlight may be necessary)
  • With trim removal tool or flat screw driver, apply gentle pressure to each locking tab, working around the perimeter of the trim piece until each tab is free
  • From the top of the hood, lift the trim piece ~45 degrees (lifting from the leading edge of the hood)
  • Slide the trim piece forward, releasing it from the slotted tab

Installation is the opposite of removal; starting at the trailing edge, install at an angle to ensure the slot is first aligned and gently press down along the perimeter lock each tab. Enjoy!

Used a flat head screw driver wrapped with tape and it worked fine. Sure my asshole was so tight, but I didn't have the right tools to replace mine with a carbon fiber piece. Do NOT recommend it.

Indeed it does, easily. Take the instructions from above, after removing the rubber seal, and trim, slide the honeycomb grille toward the rear of the hood.

I did forget to mention, it is easiest to install everything if you first re-install the rubber seal before moving onto the other bits
