Here's my fast lap from the weekend. There's no CAN bus data from any laps this weekend because I disconnected the AIM from the car. Even after the tech work of replacing the wheel speed sensors and the gas pedal, I was having the same revving problems on Saturday morning as I did two weeks ago as I was leaving the garage for the first session of the event. I was bewildered. I couldn't even get down pit lane to get to grid! I kept asking myself, what is different? The only thing I could think of was that I dropped my AIM Solo 2 DL on the ground two weeks ago before the Chin event started. So, I disconnected the AIM from the CAN bus, and I never saw the problem again all weekend......crazy. So, I'm thinking I damaged the AIM when I dropped it and maybe something in the AIM is wreaking havoc on the CAN bus. I'm going to send it to them and have them check it out.
When I look at the data, this lap was 0.5 sec faster than my 2:20.29 until Turn 8. And then I braked too early and too hard for Turn 8 and lost 0.6 sec just in T8 section.......when you look at the video, it doesn't look bad, but the data is just depressing. A couple other bobbles that cost time: -I bounced off the rev limiter just before starting the lap. -The car was slow to shift from 2nd to 3rd going up the hill of T8 to T9. -The car double-upshifted from 2nd to 4th exiting T13. (That was happening all the time in that section. The car just hated that section going to T15.) When you're looking for 0.13 sec, these things cost time. My virtual best of the weekend when I look at the 6 segments I created of the track is in the 2:18s....... EDIT: (oh yeah, forgot to mention the gesture of frustration at the end of the lap! hahaha) Anyway, here's the fast lap:

Damn!
I really want a splitscreen Motor Trend head2head style video of your car and SYT's stroker now on the same track on the same day. Would be cool to see all the different ways they make speed Hey Randy we finally have an M3 you will like

One is stripped, aero, full slicks. The other was driven to the track haha. If Mr Bone doesn't get to 1:58 I'm giving him a hard time for the rest of his life!

From a technical driver myself...that right there is how you drive!
Your reference point selection, turn-in and rotations of the vehicle were so smooth and controlled, and probably the most overlooked thing about your driving is how quick you get back on the throttle from going hard on the brakes...I'm giving you a standing applause from my keyboard..incredible driving!

Curious, do you not manually shift the trans? It's always hard to tell in video. Does the DCT do a pretty good job of being in the right gear all the time if you don't touch it?

I did joke with Cuban Rodriguez the announcer about getting him and Karla coffee and groceries. On the Livestream Karla was joking that she hadn't gotten her lettuce yet, and what was up with that?

Wellllllll, if the plan goes according to...uh...plan, you might get your wish! The last track on the tour is Watkins Glen, and the intent is to do it with SYT_Shadow!

Thanks for the info. I was just curious as it is hard to see.
6MT driver here anyways. Not sure why I wanted to know. If I ever bought another one down the road I think I'd strongly consider the DCT. |

The craziness of the weekend didn't end when I returned home.........my wife had a surprise birthday party waiting for me upon our return home from the airport!! I walk into the house and there were 30 people waiting! I was completely caught off-guard because my whole family was with me in Texas! The logistics were pretty big for her to pull it off.
She had a cake made in the form of my track car! The icing even modeled the carbon doors, the hood vents, the Epic Score logo! The cake wing uprights look like my uprights! I felt bad eating it! hahahaha Anyway, the weekend had so many facets to it, it's hard to keep it all straight. But I am going to start documenting it today. I think I may post in smaller chunks instead of one huge post.
