I've been on the list for 6 months, and I'm #2 at Westchester BMW in NY.

I put my order in yesterday, and i believe that puts my delivery around March or April.

Just call around. Check with out of town dealerships. If that doesn't work, go out of state. You surely are not planning to wait for the 116 people in front of you to get their cars?

I was told #15+ by a downtown Boston dealership. I called out of town dealerships and got a #4 spot.

I got on my dealer's list 27 months ago at #9. But, by last December I was #1. As others have said, search around. Just make sure you can get the car at MSRP without "ADP".

Search around on the forum. Many threads on this topic. Use google to search the forum - it is way better, just enter some search terms then add "site:m3post.com" at the end.

This is complete crap there is no way a dealer has a wait list this long. 30-40, maybe 50 absolutely worst case scenario. He is telling you this to justify a huge price over and above MSRP. Go to another or go out of state and you will easily get a car off the lot or per your specs in 2008 if you really want it and search it out.

Dude you need to go out of state or something...117? If most dealers get 1-2 allocations a month...let's say even 10 M car allocations then that would mean you'd get yours in oh what 20months or 2010! I'd jump ship on that one and find another smaller one out of state or something.

Good luck.

I was initially #1 at my local dealer and #3 at another. I got on these lists about 15 months ago. By sheer luck another dealer placed an order for me. My M is currently on order and scheduled to be built next week.

Now, I am struggling with this M-DCT issue and may very well jump on a later build. I recently passed on my #1 deal and am awaiting DCT allocation information from that dealer. I can still have the 6 speed if I choose.

I was 30+ at my local dealer, but found one in SC that put me on #3 in June. I've since been bumped to #1 and my order was put in last week.

Was told 23rd in my own state of Utah. Called surrounding states and found #1 position in Idaho. Nice.

Look around. It just takes a little hard work.

Well first of all like I posted 117 is complete BS. This is an excuse to try to rip off the OP. Secondly even an average dealership will get 4 cars per month. 100k cars/7 years/300 dealerships = 4 cars per month. This number will vary from 0 to about 20 from the smallest most remote dealer to the largest with a high demand for M3s.

I'm a bit confused on the "list" thing. My dealer has 2 different list...and they have from the beginning. One for a e92 the other for a e90. I was number 23 on the e92 list, I'm number 1 on the e90 list. I just heard from my dealer friday, telling me I will have the first allocation slot for the e90 with DCT....which means I might have to be pushed back a bit. I'm wondering if all the dealerships people are talking about in the thread have one list only, which seems pretty weird to me.

When I went to my local dealer, they only had one list, hence the reason I was 30+ ppl down. When I found the dealer in SC, my SA told me they have two lists: one for people who want to know about pricing and such, and then build the car, and another for people who put down a deposit outright.

I wasn't on a list but as soon as they started maintaining one, my dealer automatically put me at #1 assuming I'd probably want one since I ordered their first E60 M5. Since then, the list has grown fairly long but my dealer said there's been a lot of drop-outs for various reasons. The number of "sure things" with deposits is currently less than 10. I don't think they're taking deposits past that. I have since decided to pass on the first allocation since M-DKG could not be chosen and my dealer is awaiting the next allocation that will allow the 2MK option to be selected, which will be my car.
