so i've done 2000km in this car and I still get butterflies getting in and driving it, get loads of compliments, it's such an enjoyable car to drive at any speed ... then the sound from the v8 approaching redline is the icing on the cake.
i'm getting an m3world rear exhaust installed tomorrow and i can't wait to hear the motor unleashed. one very minor gripe... the drivers side mirror keeps randomly changing position. i'll set it through the seat memory but every couple of days it seems to have just moved to a random position and i have to reposition it. is this a common issue or an electrical gremlin? |

Good to hear you are enjoying the M and if you think it sounds good now wait until you rid yourself of the giant ball sack that is the stock mufflers....happy days son.
As for the mirrors no such trouble here. I would recommend you buy you the carly app and Bluetooth for the ecu. Cheap investment for a lot of easy fixes and changes, plus it reads and clears codes / cels.

Welcome to ownership of arguably the best BMW made and you could not be in a much better place than Perth with that amazing M3 community. Members of this forum have a wealth of of information to share.
The color is awesome and you have a great example of Ingenio's car to see what you can achieve with such a good canvas. The Rod bearing issue is real, (with the greatest of respect K) every car I'm aware of that's had a replacement was in dire need of it without the owner realizing. Some I know of were unfortunate which cost far more than the replacement. You also have great shops in Perth the likes of Galvsport, and of course the annual Racewars Never been a better time to own an M3 in Perth |

Still in love with this color combo!
I had some issues with my passenger side mirror doing the auto-down for reversing and not coming back up. I'm not sure why it happened the 2-3 times that it did, but ever since, I watch it go all the way back up. Change your power mirror switch to the opposite of whatever you have it in. See if the mirror stays still =). I believe that when in the driver side position, passenger auto-downs and vice versa, but don't quote me haha

You're going to love the new exhaust - it really takes the driving experience to another level as I have recently found out myself
As for the mirror issue, this may help > http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=683764 Quote:

And yes, the M3 World rear section is great. Not too loud but just enough to let you (and those around you) know you have an S65 under the hood. There's a little bit of drone between 1700 and 2300 rpm but who spends any time around that RPM anyway? above 2500 it sounds sublime. Eventually I will most likely get the X-pipe and tune as well to complete the package. Don't really have any other mod plans (for now). Quote:
Another small issue is that the latch at the end of the seat belt extenders seem to have both broken so they don't properly grab the seat belt as they push forward. Weird that it worked fine when I picked it up and then broke after owning it for a month. Luckily they are covered under warranty otherwise they would have have been $180 each side (they're both faulty). Not the biggest deal really. |

went to start the car on Friday after having it sit since Sunday. the cold start seemed a bit more difficult than usual and i noticed the time/date/trip meter had all reset upon starting. hmmm... weak battery? checked out the battery (should have looked at it when i bought the car) and lo and behold it was the original from 2007!
$700 + $140 fitting from Auto Classic. Ah, no. $260 before membership discount, delivered from RAC batteries, similar CCA (830 vs 800). Will install tomorrow and borrow a Carly to register the battery. Also went for a drive up to Cervantes today. If you guys haven't done that road all the way up to Jurien Bay I recommend it. There's some really nice roads that came off it and it's a great drive. Last edited by dnbosiris; 09-30-2016 at 09:06 AM.. |

That must be some sort of a record with your original battery!!!! Good job sourcing the replacement and registering it is a must. If you are like me and don't need to daily drive your ///M, invest in a C-tek battery tender - it will make sure your new battery is kept tip top.
Nice shot of the rear end of your M3 too .... |

More than just a battery charger, a tender like the C-tek with its clever electronics, monitors and keeps the charge in the battery topped up when it is not being recharged by the car's alternator. Usually because the car is left idle for periods of time. All cars have some constant draw on the battery and if it's not driven regularly, the battery is slowly drained of power. Then one day you get in and she won't start! A tender will make sure this does not happen to you ....

That's great longevity indeed! I think K is still on his original batter and I changed out mine about two months ago so at least we know they'll last s long time!
You battery does sound a bit too cheap though.. What brand of AGM battery did you get for $230?? |

just took her in for a balance and alignment at wheels world. just goes to show you can't assume a dealer has done these things when it gets a car into stock.
two fronts needed about 40gm on each (not a big deal) however one of the rears needed 180gm (!!) plus both rears needed toe adjustment that should take care of the vibration then.... also my carly adapter arrived today. it's pretty awesome being able to get into each system and customise the coding to what you prefer. first thing i did was take off that damn idrive warning screen on startup.. |
