I used the front kit around 1000km, and even bleeding the system 4 or 05 times, the brake pedal is still low. did anyone have the same problem? is it necessary to change the master cylinder?

Does it firm up when pumped?

You need to bleed with INPA or ISTA-D/Rehingold to activate the ABS/DSC solenoids that likely have air trapped in them.

when I'm pumping, the vacuum pump is activated frequently, and the pedal starts to get firmer, yes

my Suggestion then is, properly bleed with a diagnostic computer that can activate the abs pump bleed procedure, OR:

To manually bleed it, You'll have to do every line and connection point from the master cylinder out to the calipers.. it'll require two people but it can be done.

You start at the first brake line nut at the master cylinder, rear most first, then front, then bleed the lines going INTO the ABS unit, then each line going OUT of the ABS Unit, THEN do the calipers, bleeding the inner Bleeder first, then the outter bleeder, and back to inner.

That should get it all out. worst case if you want to be sure, once you do a full bleed, find some dirt, go hit the brakes to activate the ABS 2-3 times, back to the shop and bleed at the wheels again to remove the last bit of dislodged air from the lines.

Hello,

This past weekend I removed the brembo calipers and went back to using the original bmw calipers. The brake pedal became firm and consistent again, the braking power returned and the vacuum pump stopped being activated constantly.
The problem is not the bleeding of the brakes!!!

checking the brembo brake calipers, possible causes for malfunction:

*bad installation of brake calipers
*maybe the brake pads are not suitable for my use (track day). The metal plates detached from the back of the pads, causing interference and malfunction of the pistons of the brake calipers. The pistons are unable to return due to interference with these metal plates
*Brake caliper problem. The pistons don't fully return.

What is your opinion?

What pads are you using? I never experienced this in the entire time I used this system or installed it for others. I was using hawk for my front and rear and tracked my car often. No issues to report. When I did have issues with the brake feel, it came down to my own issue with bleeding. I didn't get all the air out after the initial bleeding. Once I rectified that, no issues moving forward.

Before commencing the work, I applied a weight to the brake pedal to depress it fully. Removed and installed each caliper with the Brembo. Utilized a one man bleeder systems filled with new brake fluid, removed the weight on the pedal and proceeded to bleed from the furthest point to the closest. Ensure that all air was removed. For piece of mind, I did this twice to make sure.

I use HAWK HPS 5.00 pads.

Does the brake pedal feel with BRembo calipers is the same or similar to the original calipers?
I think there is an installation error and interference from the metal plates on the back of the brake pads on the movement of the brake caliper cylinder.


I will install the brembo brake calipers again with other brake pads, and post the result here

I know this is an old thread but was wondering if you ever were able to solve the issue with the soft brakes? I know most Brembo 4 piston have 2 bleeders per caliper and was wondering if these are similar?

Quite often when people rebuilding calipers are using red grease to rebuild them. They are using red grease on pistons and main fluid seals to which cause more friction and stop pistons working properly. In some cases, over time red grease will dry out and will stop pistons moving.

I did rebuild quite a few sets of calipers in the past and many pistons stuck solid or were bearly moving because somebody used red grease on them.

I would advise to strip both calipers clean them out and get a new set of seals and only use High Temp Silicone Grease from Brembo or ATE.


Another option would be to use 6pot calipers from Alfa Giulia as they are designed to work with 360x32mm discs not like 8pots 365x34mm.

I sourced a used 6 POT Brembo Calipers a year ago with an intent to use OEM stock floating rotors and will fit OEM 219 wheel with no spacers and most of all, FIT THE BUDGET!!!!!

The plan, TO MAKE A BRACKET!!!

After a year of creative, extensive design and FEA (Finite Element analysis) thru Solidworks and precision machining and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) check, I have the real part!
Made of aircraft grade heat treated Aluminum, hard annodized finished and reinforced high carbon thread inserts!

Im running it as of now as daily and weekend canyon run so far it working the it should be.

Although the brackets was expensive to do at the machine shop because only 2 pairs were made.
Will make more brackets if someone wants to go this route. In a volume run for machine shop, will definitely lower the price.

I will make a thread regarding this conversion soon here.
