Good in-car video from Thunderhill?
Can anyone point me at good in-car video from an E9x M3 at Thunderhill? Most of the stuff I've found on youtube so far looks to be a good 10 seconds off the capability of the car. I've done a bunch of days at Thunderhill in a 2001 330i and a Spec Miata, but I will be taking my E90 M3 there for the first time in January and would like to have some sort of reference. Looking for video from a relatively stock E9x M3 on street tires, but will appreciate any video. Thanks!

There are some good videos of stock S2000's and Cayman's on youtube, which should have similar cornering ability and a bit less power. If you can drive like this you are doing ok. Too bad it's not the repave track from 2008.. |

Here's a lap in my old car. None from the M3 yet. This is in the bypass config which I am not used to. Track is much faster with the repave. Lots more runoff.

Correction I may have had the moton ss in this video. It was around the time I took them off, but this video should give you an idea what an m3 looks like around thunderhill. What club are you going with in jan? Maybe I'll see you there.

I haven't done Thunderhill or any track for that matter in 6 years. So I hope I don't make a fool out of myself. The M3 is a lot of car...a lot more than I'm used to. Thanks for the vid, by the way. You look very smooth. I was checking the laptimes thread to see what people do around Thunderhill and notice you have a 2:00 time listed. What did you have on your car and what was the track configuration? |

Rickybobby,
Some questions for you... Do you brake for T4? It was a lift for rotation in my Miata but I don't remember what I was doing in my 330i. How much braking is needed for T8. It was just a lift in my 330i, but I imagine the M3 carries a ton more speed up to T8. Are the gears you're using in the video the same gears you would use now? I will eventually sort all of this out in my own car, but it gives me confidence to go to the track with as much info as I can get. Thanks! Last edited by yyoo; 12-20-2011 at 02:13 PM.. |
