Changing those back coils and plugs is a big PITA, i agree. Not looking forward doing it, but with a SC, its every 10K miles
My car was new when the S/C was installed and I drove about 17,000 miles with lots of racing and regular dynos and everything was fine. But by 18,000 miles My dyno's measured a 30-40 HP drop. Changed plugs and voila got the 30-40 HP back. I'm probably going to do them every 10-12K miles now.

Yea I didn't even think of changing them at the time of install, did the bearings and connecting bolts but forgot the spark plugs ha!

Leaving off the spark plug covers is going to save me a lot of time for the next change though, lot more hoses etc in the way with a SC kit

I am not sure its a good idea to take those covers off. They are there to protect everything from dust, dirt, ect. contamination.

+1, it doesn't take but 10 seconds to take them on and off.

There's nothing wrong with removing them. There more for aesthetics. Nothing is gonna happen by running them removed.

Yea they don't actually protect anything, many with SC kits leave them off. Would add another 30min to every change I do if I left them on, drivers side has about 8 hoses/blow off valve etc covering it up. Other side yea come out in like 30secs.
Engine also looks better with the covers off.

How frequently do you need to change the spark plugs if running test pipes? I was gonna wait till the OEM service interval of 30k.

I cant think of any reason test pipes would affect sparkplug change.

Plenty of guys do it without, although I did find it helpful. I think EAS has them. Also think they are around on Amazon

I got mine off Amazon, you can do it without by using a coathangar/wire etc but does make it far quicker with the tool also less swearing.

Just changed mine and noticed a major improvement in the smoothness of starting. Definitely worth it from my end. My shop quoted two hours to change the spark plugs which seemed excessive but just keep it in mind with your local shop.
