Possessed!!!
So I get my car today and turn on the radio...
All of a sudden the radio gets really loud and I can't adjust it, I can't change stations or turn it off. I tried turning the car off... nada. I start the car back up and the a/c goes to full blast! NO CONTROL!!! So at this point I have the radio blasting away and the a/c at full blast! I turn the car off again get out and lock it and it was still doing it!! WHAT THE HELL.... I ended up disconnecting the battery lead... WTF!!!!!! :mad0 260: |

Wow, keep us posted.
I'd say my iDrive is very reliable, but a couple /three times a year I have a scenario where I can't get the radio to turn off for a few minutes. Sometimes stopping and restarting seems to get everything back in order. A problem that pales compared to yours though. Hope it's a quick software flash. |

I'd have your car's wiring checked. I had a problem where the car wouldn't start but the windshield wipers turned on at will, the bmw assist wouldn't hang up, the dials did a sweep test and i couldn't shutdown ignition. Turned out there was a loose connection to the car's OBC from the factory. They just plugged everything back in nice and tight and haven't had a problem since.

At least in LA you did not stand out from the crowd by having your A/C and radio at full blast.

something similar happened to me. as i was driving, all of a sudden this electronic buzzing/staticky noise shot out of the car's speakers. after i got to my destination, i turned the car off, took out the key, but the noise continued. no matter what i did, the noise wouldn't go away. so then i thought i'd look for the fuse for the stereo, as i started to look, the noise stopped by itself. happened about a year ago, hasn't happened since. very weird. and a couple of other times, my stereo wouldn't turn on. then at the end of the day, when i started the car, the radio turned on like normal. these cars are quirky

I was also greeted by a full-volume blast early on, but it was momentary, while swapping from SAT to CD. Since it has never happened again, it may have been that I reached for the volume while the swap materialized (it takes a couple of seconds, as all of you know), fearing a volume blast . So now I don't touch anything while changes take place (or CDs load, etc). Were you doing anything like that, or it happened without touching anything out of the blues???
At any rate, one other option (besides battery disconnection) is to pull fuse #18 to kill all speakers (plus radio, bluetooth, nav, chimes, etc). It might have been a fluke, like most of us, so I'd wait for a second time before handing car to a dealer. Good luck, and keep us posted. |

When my batt started to die my car went berserk for 2 days. AC on and off, radio on full and then cut off all of a sudden, plus a host random cels, but no low voltage warning??? Once I got a new batt everything has been fine.

Update
So first things first... the LA comment was hilarious!!!!
OK... so my car has been in the shop for a week and chances are according to the dealership they will have it over the weekend. Seems as if the car is not taking any of the new updates to correct the problem... I'll keep you updated!!! |

Same exact thing happened to me a few months back, I thought a speaker had blown or something. I was getting ready to take it to the dealer to have them check it out but it has never happened again
