Not really..drive what you enjoy driving whether DCT or 6MT. I don't give a shit about anyone's opinion of what I drive. I bought this car in this transmission because I like it so if you see threads talking about this just ignore them.
You are right Bro I just wanted to shed some light on it and trying to put some peace to this nonsense

You are both drawing conclusions based upon, well nothing really. The price difference between the DCT and manual was small when the cars were new, and remains small in the used car market (with the DCT being slightly more costly when new, and manuals commanding a slight price premium over similarly-equipped DCT cars on the used car market). The performance difference is also relatively small on the street, but meaningful on the track. However, few of our cars are dedicated track cars and most of us purchased a car with the transmission we personally prefer for the sort of driving we mostly do, whether it be paddle shift or stick shift. Each transmission has its benefits and disadvantages, and as long as each of us is happy with our own choice this debate is pointless.

What is your conclusion? Are you making the argument that DCT costs substantially more on the used market than 6MT or that people who are buying brand new M3s cannot afford the DCT option?

That's pretty much exactly what I said.

envy is a horrible trait.
Some of us lost a little faith after the SMG experience... Although the DCT is light years better... For me I just love a MT in my weekend cars... I have the Benz AT for my daily pleasures..

Am I the only one who wants to have both?

Some days, I'm perfectly happy with my DCT.
Some days, I wish I had chosen a MT.

I am actually considering to buy a MT E90 now when the prices getting low... but then my salary reminds me of that I should be driving a Yugo.

This thread does not deliver. 0/10. No we can't all just get along. There will always be people who drive MT that will spout off saying DCT guys can't drive worth a shit, and there will always be DCT guys saying stupid shit like Patron in this thread about Grey Poupon and people supposedly "not being able to afford DCT". These are all inflammatory remarks, rooted in ignorance, and will forever keep us from all being able to get along.

Go home hippie.

Now I see how wars get started. It sounds like Donald Trump has an automatic M3? Seriously though I agree with posters most of us should find the common bonds between us but I'm shocked at how many times people whip out the "you can't afford" card. Don't see it as often in 1 or 2 series forums. Sorry to burst you bubble but affording has nothing to do with it but if it makes you feel superior to think that go ahead. Some people are not buying M cars for track times, the spend 99% of the time on public roads where the speed limit is 65 max and a manual is more engaging and fun playing around the street. Why are manual ferraris worth more than the same year automatics? Is it because collectors can't afford a cheaper automatic version?
Why is e46 M3 manual sought after and SMG ones forgotten or converted to manuals?

Seriously man. Just stop and think a bit.

Well, the horse hasn't quite been beaten enough in the previous 4000 threads on the subject and countless snarky comments sprinkled around in countless other threads over the past 8 years. I'm quite sure something new and fresh will turn up in this one.

What? What a stupid post lol. Do you really think someone chose MT because couldn't afford DCT?

Both are great, but please don't talk about something you have no idea about.

Honestly I'm playing on the hate when manual guys make fun of the dcts, it's usually the response 'don't know how to drive or aren't an enthusiast' it's so horribly dumb, the afford comment is the dumbest one I could think of .

It's as dumb as people hating on verbs. Who cares if someone chooses a vert, it's their car. Etc....

You're not helping. That's a manual shovel. We need a DCT shovel.
