I too am looking at the new 991 lately, BUT the price for a base 991 911 Carrera is $82,100 and we all know that does not include packages (Premium Package, Premium Package Plus, BOSEŽ Audio Package, etc). Besides that, performance packages like the PASM sport suspension, Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV), are also not included. If your not careful and kept on adding options carelessly, the final selling price could hit 6 figures very easily. With that 6 figure price, your in the ballpark for a used 997.2 gt3. The new 991 911's are not reasonably priced. IMHO, Porsche should start the new 991 911's base price at $72-$75K. That's still above the Cayman S pricing. What do you guys think?

Anyways, with all that said I just decided to get a brand new e90 M3.

I'll get a P-car, some day some day...

Too late, I'm afraid. E90 production has ceased in October...

Last week, I went to a BMW dealership here in the Bay Area and they have located a few brand new '11 e90 m3's nationwide, but not to my liking. I'm very particular when it came to exterior color so I told them to keep searching. I'm still keeping my hopes up though.

If worse comes to worse, I just have to settle for a CPO e90 m3.

Yep. But what we could see instead is a 2.5L version making 250hp to 275hp naturally aspirated.

Their 2.5liter engine in impreza is 170hp & 170ft-lb torque.. Do you think they can get to 250hp in NA form (which is close to wrx (ie turbo)), or are you talking about a different 2.5liter engine they have?

I'm suggesting that, since they can get 200hp from the 2L slated to go into the car for its debut, they should be able to get 250hp or more from a possible future 2.5L version of the motor.

As far as I know this is a HO version of the new engine that debuted with the new Impreza, but I suppose that is neither here nor there. Until the BRZ, no naturally aspirated subaru engine came anywhere near 100hp/L. Note the new Impreza makes only about 150hp from it's 2L H4. So, whether they've used a new design or an old one to achieve what they have with the BRZ, the fact remains that looking at the power output achieved from a bottom of the line Impreza isn't a good way to predict what can be accomplished for a purpose-built RWD sport coupe.

That's where Toyota's contribution to that motor comes into play. Their DI technology helps achieve the extra HP in this engine.

No way are they going to get 250hp out of a NA 4 cylinder engine w/o heavy sacrifices to driveability and emissions. Honda can only get 200hp out of their 2.4.

Wait, what thread is this? lol

That makes sense, but its not the only reason. One other obvious point is that the motor revs much higher than other Subaru H4 engines.

Honda could get plenty more than that from their 2.4L if they had the need. They got 240hp from the 2.2L in the S2000.

The fact is that the 2L motor in the BRZ at 100hp/L obviously meets emissions just fine. Whether it is as efficient as the 2L motor in the Impreza is irrelevant. There's nothing prohibiting a 2.5L version of the same motor. Will it be less efficient than the 2L? Sure. Will it be less efficient than the 2.5L in the outgoing Impreza? Sure. Does that mean it can't be brought to market? No.

Yeah - way off topic. But we need a good BRZ/FTS discussion thread here, so maybe the mods can break this out to a new thread.

The american automakers knew they effed up, now they are finally taking notice to quality in their products. Ford has stepped up its game big time! look at the cars in their lineup, they are stuffing technology, refinement, and consumer ideas into their cars. About damn time one of the big 3's taking a step in the right direction! Go Ford!

I love my new CTS-V coupe and am first in line for the GT500. I am sure my other cars will not mind sharing garage space with them......Steve
