Missing DSC off & POWER Button - PA12 Nylon Replacements

Hey guys, so I know this may have happened to you. But you know these little buttons break or go missing... So, I CAD designed them in Fusion 360 and 3D printed the replacements in a high quality PA12 Nylon.

If you're missing your buttons it's a total buzz kill everytime you get in the car so made them available for anyone who doesn't want to spend 200 bucks on the new EDC module just for the button caps (like me ) The parts are pretty small but fortunately not impossible with the right tools. If anyone is interested let me know!

Nice work! I always thought about picking up a new hobby of 3D printing.

Yeah, I picked it up almost a decade ago when the first DIY hobby printers were out. They werent as reliable as the ones today which can be had for just afew hundred bucks. Definitely useful when you're a car guy and most of the things you like are custom

Nice - I asked around on Facebook what people would be willing to pay for molded caps with the legends and the tooling cost turned me away. Would've had to sell like 200 of them just to break even on the upfront cost.

Your finish quality looks pretty good even though it's not a exact match for the soft touch. Did you Prep and paint them?

Thats exactly how they come out the printer. It's an industrial HP Multi-jet fusion printed part so extremely durable nylon material (more than ABS)

I post up my shapeways links here once they're available fs

Great work, not a bad options.

But it looks like you'll loose the ability to see when the LED is lit up. Perhaps you can include cut outs right above the LEDs?

Yeah that'll be the next version. I wanted to make sure the button fit before getting fancy with it. Appreciate the feedback

Love the 3d printing idea. I have been toying with the same for the same reasons as well. I found these a little too late to save myself $200 but I ordered a set in case the new ones go out.

$21 for each cap and I just got them in a nice looking metal altoids shaped tim. Can't attest to how long they will last.

Hmm, I have not yet encountered such a problem, but if I think logically, then I probably would have printed this button on a 3D printer. It seems to me that if you print on it, it will take less time, less money. And even if you do not have your own printer, there are companies that will be ready to make these two buttons for the conditional $10 and it will take them half an hour. But delivery from aliexpress will take at least a week (in the most optimistic scenario), or it may not come at all. Even if you sell a car, and the buyer asks about it, and because of this will ask for a discount, you can make a $20 discount
